There is always time to explain something, and people don't typically click on YouTube links (or other links for that matter) without one (I will click on one.)

Yeah you really should google and not just jump on a bandwagon. This is about the "10 Strikes Bill" from 2011. The videos, while newly posted by that user, are not new. Hell, even that website hasn't been updated since Aug 2012 - and even then it was moved onto newer causes. I'm fairly certain that bill failed - although I'm not taking the time to delve too much into the vote itself (on my phone, and not my "urgent" post, that's your job)

Sorry kiddo. Not urgent in the least here.

OK... The government is trying to pass a law makeing it a felony punishable by up to five years in federal prison to stream patented media... That's anything from the latest Hollywood blockbuster to a video of a three year old doing karaoke.

I apparently was editing while you were posting. Want to make sure you see it though.

Who exactly emailed you? If you have new info, maybe I'm wrong. Is the bill just now getting voted on? Because I any find ANYTHING more recent than 2011 about it.

S. 978 and SOPA aren't the same thing... As for my source, that would be The Internet Defence League.

Omg yes I'm well aware sopa is different. It doesn't matter if I google "10 strike bill" or "s 978" there is nothing new since 2011 (with one exception being something to do with Justin bieber, and nothing could make me look into that) - the closest thing I see to a resolution is it is listed as "status - died"

Yeah.... That has nothing to do with that bill. Your causes are getting mixed up here.

The IDL is quite focused on CISPA right now.

The justice for Aaron Swartz stuff is about CFAA, which is very currant. (is it at all you got confused because he was the founder of Demand Progress, the original site discussed above with all the "10 strike bill" info?)

I'm sorry I find it very hard to believe a bill that basically died 2 years ago is back in business, and there is nothing to google at all (sidenote, omg it is "too")

Can you post the original email, I might comprehend better.

I know how to do that but I can't just copy paste a two page email on a tablet... I could forward it to you... No need for your real email... Just make one real quick... Wait. This will work better:

Crying or Very sad No kiddo, I told you. You are really confusing your issues. The videos you posted are all about 978 which is already long dead in the water.

The email you got was about CFAA and i assume you got confused, because of the "Aaron's Law" aspect. CFAA is an anti hacking law that already exists but is abused.

And now you are linking about CISPA. While CISPA is an important issue too {much more I'd say even}, it has nothing to do with 978, or going to jail for uploading videos. Rolling Eyes

Also, it isn't very likely CISPA will honestly pass as there haven't been the changes asked for between CISPAs last venture last year and now {luckily I suppose}. But by all means fight the good fight, just make sure you actually know what you are fighting for/about. Right now you are just coming off as a bandwagon sheep who doesn't know what he's in line for.

https://www.eff.org/issues/cfaa - CFAA info

Side note, not a double post if it is days apart btw.
