Thanks for the lesson...but it is off...completely and utterly off. I turn it completely off when not in use because it blows as far as battery life. I use it as a communication device for my nonverbal autistic kid. ( communication device...how very Star Trek-ish)..if its dead and the kid can't communicate with me, it winds up being a bad, bad thing..

Maybe the points were a fluke...or maybe it was a mission that hadn't hit my app yet. I work within a mile of the Vegas strip.. Dunno

But no, and I've had this with other apps. If it's set to run gps in the background, even force closing it sometimes keeps the gps active. Case in point; I haven't opened the app for a LONG time..I just turned on location services for it, and immediately the gps became active. I scrolled many pages along to the star trek app icon and force closed it. The gps is still active.
The app should have a way to turn off the GPS feature. It doesn't (not anywhere I can find).
I just re-opened it to check. Force closed it again. GPS is still active.

Only solution is to turn off location services.

 		I am still having a horrible time capturing the images that it is asking for.. I have given up all hope for the most part.. I am on android. Are all the "captains" on iphone and in areas? or have yall been cheating?

Edit: Conspiracy theory.. maybe they are generating word of mouth by people talking about the non scannable stuff.
