Yeeeeah!!!!! If Consortium is even HALF as interesting as the story behind this A.R.G., it's going to be one fucking incredible game.

Ah, I was just a bit late in posting a follow-up article.

If you guys hadn't noticed, it seems that they've taken their FB page OOG (renaming it Consortium) and made a separate OOG Twitter stream at @iDGi_1

I don't think anyone really noticed, but I noticed by accident (and am pretty sure) the PM's have snuck in an update to the chat bot. It now will not answer any questions that we previously asked (except for a select few). Not sure why it does that, but it also is much more matured and very impatient. I wish there was more, but I have been pelting it with questions with no luck.

Well I at least found something clever:
"What is the Consortium?" produces:
Quote:
I've never heard of such a thing. I like the name though, "Consortium". Catchy.

Pre-post EDIT:
WHOA! I just figured out why it's changed. It's not the question bot anymore! Ask it "who are you" and you get:
Quote:
My name is Henry IX

We're talking to Henry directly now! Before it made it very clear that Henry was its MASTER, not Henry was IT.

But that begs the question of why we're now getting LESS of a response. You'd expect Henry to be more responsive than a lesser bot.

Maybe we found this before the PMs meant us to...

EDIT: Also found:
"Who are the Guardians?"
Quote:
The Guardians are the mythical construct of a desperate group of people.

"What is Worldview Industries?"
Quote:
They are the powers that be

Using "Who is" instead of "What is" produces the same response minus the "They are."

"What is your purpose?"
Quote:
To serve you and others like you to the best of my ability.

Well if they never meant us to find it, that might mean they're planning for another update soon, as all they need to do is update the chat bot's system and the flash never needs to be updated itself.

The only reason I can think of that we would get less of a response is if we don't know the right questions to ask at the moment which again supports the "Weren't supposed to see this".

Also just a note, "Henry" won't give how many cords are on the desktop anymore when you input it.

I'm going to email Vidal with a few things, and I'll include a small question about it.

EDIT: Sent the email to Vidal.

You can also ask about Jess Chard:
Quote:
Well that's Kevin's mother! I call her mom too! Not a very nice lady or so I'm told...

You can also ask about Brayden Shaw:
Quote:
He is Kevin's replacement. I don't trust him one bit - there is just something not right about him.

Just not very responsive in the question department.

Makes sense. And it would make sense that the ARG is going to pick back up again once they're done with all the KS stuff.

Also, on a semi-unrelated note, have you noticed the clever way in which they've made their Corporate site simultaneously IG and OOG now that they've revealed who they are? It's a little wibbly-wobbly at times, but they basically merged the fictional company with the real one. For instance, "Vidal Desertch" now appears in the list of employees along with "Gregory MacMartin," although Gregory is now listed as the CEO. It's actually kind of clever!

That's funny, because you can't ask about Kevin himself...

Yes I had noticed and it is rather amusing.

EDIT: Finally seemed to hit a good question.
Quote:

Where is Jess Chard?

She is with the Guardian Church near Xalapa and I don't think Kevin knows this yet! They have manipulated her into believing that Worldview has killed or kidnapped Kevin.

Quote:
Where is Brayden Shaw?

He is one of the only current workers within my facility that does not live here. He resides somewhere to the north-east of Xalapa.

Nice! I'll try some more when I'm booted back into the partition where my ARG progress is saved. Smile

Anyway, I don't know who on this forum backed the KS campaign or not, so I'm going to share this (I asked and they said I could):

On the Dev Forum they set up for the backers, they posted this IG timeline (attached) of historical events uncovered from all the signals we've received through iDGi-1. I haven't had time to read through it yet, but it goes all the way from the 1850's up to the day we connect to Bishop Six in Consortium. Seems like it could be really interesting!

Heeey guys!

So it sounds like they have that backers forum going? I regret only getting the $17 tier + that Discoveries document, though even that was more than I could afford. So no access for me. Oh well, you'll have to represent for all of us Duke!

Just read the timeline you posted. Whoa. That is a lot of stuff, some really interesting details. Very fun read. And as a pot-smoking Canadian, I loved that little detail of legalization! And the U.S. taking over the Oil Sands?! Nice touch, made me lol

Damn, my "idgi folder" sure is getting filled up. I've been throwing everything they release into it for like 3 years now (oh my God have I been here that long?) and there's just so much STUFF.

I feel bad for anyone new trying to get on board. I think maybe we need to try again to make a wiki or sooomething for new peoples. If anyone can give people a breakdown then I'd say it is us! We started one up a wiki a long time ago but it was never really organized properly. I think we need a fresh approach. At least until they release that Discoveries Document and we can just use that.

I'm terrible at organization but I think I could be really helpful with the actual information. I still have dreams about this damn story and have everything pretty well put together in my head. I think so anyway.

Haha, it's funny! I was suggesting something just along those lines on the Backers' Forum (which so far Cherrytree has also shown up on)!

The PMs are already doing a series of posts on the forum (and cross posting on Facebook so that everyone else can read) for catching up on the storyline, so all we'd need to do would be to create a walkthrough on what's what, what all the websites are, how they work, and most importantly, how to get caught-up on the interactive experience component.

Cherrytree already said he would like to help and while we haven't started anything yet (heck, I still need to respond to his post saying he'd help!), you're more than welcome to help out as well!

Anything we accomplish would certainly get cross-posted here.

EDIT (cross-post from Backers' Forum): I guess the next question is: what format do we want to use for this? It has to be something that multiple people can access and edit (I'm sure we're all very busy, so it's best IMO if we don't leave one person in charge of putting all the info into one place), and it needs to be accessible outside this forum. We probably want to be able to include pictures, as well. I'd say a wiki but I don't know if that's supremely suited for a single linear walkthrough. Any thoughts?

Okay, I'm cross-posting here to bring in the discussion from the other forum.
Here were cherrytree's and my further comments:

Well I do have a website so I can easily put on a webpage (though my website html skills are pretty nil) I would be able to put pictures there pretty easily, along with any text we need.

Or (and I've been meaning to restart this for a time) I've been meaning to restart a specific forums for the repository of information that we have in a more sectionalized manner. (Could also be used as a discussion). It might feel much more user friendly than the thread at the moment.

I wrote:
Well giving a group edit rights on a forum would be a lot easier than on a private website, I'd imagine, so that might work. Plus, if we can set up a spoiler tag (or maybe just create a separate thread for each puzzle and link to them from a main thread for a similar effect), it would be useful to hide solutions so people could pick and choose from the walkthrough.

I will say, though, that as good as this game has been, it has always been more-or-less linear and not the sort of multi-threaded thing that might need its own board (or at least that was the verdict when we motioned for our own board on uF, I believe), so I think it would be an unnecessary hassle to move all of our discussions there. However having a separate board just for getting people caught up would have its own advantages and would allow people to ask questions with better context. Plus, if the game ever DOES get that big, we'd have somewhere guaranteed to move to (though it would be a little sad to leave uF... :/).

(Cross-posting)

I don't think it's quite the problem with "linear" as much as when an "update" comes around it's a huge chunk of info incoming. Usually when we have a "time jump/skip" we have the desktop which may be updated. The new audio logs which may be updated, the emails which are usually updated, the downloadable files which are sometimes updated, the chatbot, and finally (sometimes) the forums.

My main concern is someone may come into the thread and feel overwhelmed because we are talking about three or more different subjects at one time. So they feel to actually input something they may need to actually catch up on these various subjects, and by that time (time availability depending) there may be even more posts of information from other players (theories etc.) that may be even more to process.

Having the forum may make discussions much more "bite-sized" and easier for the player if for example they have 30 minutes to say "Well I have enough time for the emails" and just jump into the emails because there isn't multiple subjects to digest, process, and theorize on.

Well that's pretty much my thoughts. I'm afraid the "catch-up" stage is much harder than the actual "discussion". I'm fine with just making a forum for a archive of information, I'm just not sure (as we all have been talking like that for 60 something odd pages) if we can tell if this may be a tad bit overwhelming to people who want to catch up, even (with) the breaks in between big updates.
