Wait... was it is?
I just hope - my last hope - that amongs the fanposted Star Trek pictures there will be some pics posted not by us, you know, what I mean.

Because otherwise this would be an epic fail... And actually, JJ Abrams haven't allowed fails. Even his DharmaWantsYou, beeing sollapsed as collateral damage of finacial crisis, was ended IG-alike and pretty self-ironic.

But this... Just post a pic and win a sweeptake. And only for US and Canada-residents. Hmm... Confused

Oh yes...

Btw, something completely different (c) but perhaps it will bring some light in our day:

Guillermo der Toro will adopt "Monster" by Naoki Urasawa. And JJ Abrams is perhaps onboard. How awesome is this?

Totally disappointed. Was really looking forward to a full experience like with the first film. Sad
I just submitted something I created when we first found the trailhead website. http://twitpic.com/bq1arb

So disappointed. I was looking forward to jumping into this. :/

Oh well. Maybe I can find a fairly newish ARG to hop aboard.

Btw, I tweeted about that site to one of the movie's co-writers, Roberto Orci. Here's what he said in response:

Its all his fault! They showed him the plan to put ruthe1701 up on Dec 17th 2012 and leave it there until Apr 24th 2013.. He flipped and said "Brilliant. they will love it..They wiil check every day and find nothing .. then they will check and find a new signup for a $2 prize.. this beats the last game by miles..."

The bummer is really that they implied there was going to be a new adventure like the last.. hidden url in trailer.. new website..etc....but knowing how well the last films ARG went they counted on us swallowing up this stupid app...an app that they spent money on developing so we could scan pics of posters and old DVD covers of the first ST flick.. An app with no mission.. waste.. This time last film there was a terrific anticipation and buildup as the release date drew near.. This time i'm kinda angry and not so excited to see this film as I was expecting..
The game? is done, the app is turned off and Lindlehoff and Orci lied..

ARGs and viral campaigns related to films are supposed to get people to see the film and talk about the film so others they know also see the film. Since I had nothing to engage me after signing up, I didn't really talk about it. Now that all it turns out to be is this cheeseball thing?

More money saved. Keep your $2 middle finger.

$2 prize?

While the rules and regs note the ARV for the prize is $2, it might just be there as a place marker for the legalese. Unlike most contests you have to respond with proof of residency within 24 hours of notification; maybe it's premiere or sneak peek tix?

Retail value of $2 to see a sneak preview? Is it in a closet on a 19" TV?
Flynn Lives, I got to see Tron: Legacy for FREE, in 3D, after months of live events, games, and lots of swag (granted most of it not that expensive). I paid to see it once after that, $14. I bought the soundtrack, then the Bluray. I figure it was probably a wash on what they spent on me for swag and such, maybe a little bit in their favor. I know I told lots of people about it. When I switched vehicles, I moved the 89 Forever sticker to my new one, and still explain all about it when asked.

Thank you Disney and 42 Entertainment for showing how its done.

Whatever the value of the prize you can win, it seems bad form to allow international sign ups that go on for months, then announce right at the end that it's a US and Canada only thing. I mean, why let us put in other counties when we signed up if we weren't going to get to play?

It's just disappointing, especially so after having such a great game for the 2009 film.

Dito.
As already said before: why placing the url into international Trailers?
They cannot explain it with economics... This is really a mystery for me. A mystery with a seed of hope within.
