There's no ToTheArk that says "He is the Operator," but the second-ever TTA video was titled "Operator," so the word was introduced pretty early on.
Also the word Operator appears in faint text towards the end of the fourth TTA, Impurity, and the next video, Exit, contains some jumbled letters that flash briefly at the beginning of the video, "Rat He Ore Top," which is an anagram for "The Operator."
Throw in the visual inclusion of an operator telephone key in Sidetone and Indicator, and you have a lot of in-game references to that word.
What if we've been wrong about this all along, and "The Operator" isn't the operator? Could it also refer to TTA, since they are indeed pulling a lot of the strings that keeps this story moving? It's an interesting way to think of it.

Troy, Joseph, and Tim have referred to Slenderman as "The Operator" numerous times. I can't think of any specific examples, but I know they have.

It's interesting, but I think it's wrong. Alex's drawings from the beginning include the "Operator" symbol ('x' through the zero), which seems like a pretty straightforward indicator of "thing which has no face."

Devil's Advocate post, but you haven't seen To The Ark's face.

Fair enough. I will admit my bias in that I think TTA's face looks like Hoody's. Razz

This has been my main problem with the series from the start. Then, when I started watching TT, EMH and DH and saw that they mentioned the 'tall faceless guy in a business suit' quite a bit - because let's face it, you would - I did wonder why they never did in MH.

And just to further an earlier point, how come Jay can't Google 'tall faceless man in business suit' but Tim has clearly Googled 'Marble Hornets'?

I just wonder why they never really talk about it. I'm just following the idea right now that the sheer terror of mentioning TO is the reason why they never mention him.

Speak of the devil and he shall arrive. However, I do find it a little odd that they rarely bring it up at all on camera.

Well I heard Slenderman talk about living in San Francisco. I don't remember when but I know he did.

'takk, if you heard Slenderman "talking" to you, then surely you know that you're probably no longer sane and have therefore become an unreliable narrator. Smile

Google did not bring me to the interview where it was confirmed. But it brought me to a ton of pages where the name confirmation was acknowledged.

But I never really thought the name was of fan origin, because the fans don't talk like that. Slenderman is almost always "Slendy," ToTheArk is "a proxy," or more recently "TTA," Masked Tim and the dude in the hood are "Masky" & "Hoody," respectively..."The Operator" just doesn't fit with this general pattern.

I only use "The Operator" because I am of the understanding that it is "Slenderman's" proper name in this series. And I tend to shy away from cutesy nicknames, especially for this type of series.

It doesn't follow the pattern, but the name is based on an assumption due to thew use of the word Operator in the series. However, no one officially attributed this name to the Slenderman. I'm not saying we've been wrong, I'm only stating facts that when collected may make it prudent to keep an open mind about what Operator actually refers to.

No, it definitely did happen. Shit, which interview was the one where Joseph made a paper airplane? I believe Jay called him Slenderman, then corrected himself, in that one.

Well if you've watched EMH then you know how Steph feels about mentioning it. Why wouldn't Jay and Tim be that way as well?

And about google, I think it's pretty obvious that in-game the only info available is the SA forum stuff, and even that is debatable whether it's included or not.

Jay narrates his every move, so if he'd even thought of doing an internet search, I'd think we would have heard about it, & why it didn't work out.

Also, I follow EMH, & I'm not sure what you're referring to.
