I am currently juggling phone calls between the head of mall security and the duty watch commander of the Schamburg police department. Both individuals seem very nice and are working with me to see that our meeting goes well. The head of security is calling the head of property management and will let me know about how to best proceed with sectioning off an area in the parking lot.

However, even if that dosen't work. I'm going to make a reservation for the Chipotle Restraunt for 20 people around 4pm. It will be under the name Bees. I hope to see you all there.

My plan lands at Midway at 4:52pm. Figure an hour to get the car and head over to the restaurant. Will anyone still be there at 6, or should I just head over to the event?

You all mentioned earlier that a starbucks is over there right next to the meetup spots for the axon. For all of us unfortuante to be able to go, I was wondering if anyone was going to bring a laptop and make reports from the starbucks (since it is a free wireless hotspot) telling us what is going on, or showing us some pictures. That would rock alot! Very Happy

I'm finally rearing my ugly head since lurking here since August and the Beer axon in Bensenville.

Starbucks doesn't have free hotpots, it's $9.95/day without an existing T-Mobile account. Panera has free hotspots but the nearest one is a 5-minute drive away (http://www.panera.com/Map.aspx?LocationId=400).

I'll be at the Woodfield Gameworks Training Exercise and just happen to have a new Chatter (Sidekick II) so if there's any signal at all inside the event we can post updates without even leaving.

Out.

'The Incredibles' at 12:15am in the Loews theater

Somebody in the SF training thread mentioned that 'The Incredibles' is playing at midnight after their event. Turns out, it's playing at 12:01am in the theater next to our Chicago event, too.

Hope this link works:
The Incredibles

I'll have my laptop, digital camera, and a cheapo digital video camera. Any ol' hotspot will do.

Black ops recording only...

Just exchanged emails with Dana Awbrey. No recordings allowed inside the event. We'll have to be sneaky...

My understanding is that recordings of the simulation software and our exercises with it would compromise security and will not be allowed.

Well, I had a nice conversation from a representative of the police department. He suggested that the top two floors of the parking garage hardly ever get used, so that would the best, if any, place to organize our cars.

The weather looks cold, but clear, so I say we go for the top floor of the parking garage. It over looks "theater way" in the mall complex and will give us easy access to Gameworks and Lowes.

I have yet to hear back from Mall security and the property manager, who have the ultimate say. However, as long as we are patroning one of the shops in the mall, it will NOT be considering loitering.

SO. . . Git your cars up to the top floor of parking garage. Look for the Bee signs or whatever, and meet us at Chipotle!

Ugh, I'm going to have a quick little rant to calm my nerves. I'm 18, and have lived a pretty sheltered life. I have never really gone on trips or anything like that. So I'm planning my first trip out of state and it is tough. I'll be coming with my boyfriend, but his family wants him to come straight home afterwards. I don't think so. Its a five hour drive (I thought it was only four Sad ) and there is no way in hell I am driving that long, that late at night. So I'm just stressed at my first road trip and the fact I am planning it all by myself.

Feel free to ignore everything I just said.

Great work Spie! So we decided on Chipotle? If people cant decide (I wanted Stircrazy myself) maybe we could get food and meet in the food court area. Every mall I've been to has one, does Woodfield? If all else fails, we could meet at the parking garage. Smile Look for my ghetto bee mobile!

I know how you feel. I also lived a semi sheltered life, I say semi sheltered cause while I probably could of done what ever I wanted I chose not to. Never went on any trips on my own or with my friends till I was 23.

I'm an incredibly laid back guy. Nothing bothers me, but I got a bit stressed about the trip. I realized that really there isn't anything to get stressed about. You're just doing it to have fun, and the planning should just be another part of that fun. Sure it's crazy, sure it's hectic, but it's going to be great no matter what. Trust me, I've been there.

Stircrazy is in the Woodfield Mall area. Gameworks/Lowes/Chipotle is in the "Streets of Woodfield" area. Look at the map I made - they are two separate shopping areas. While I do love creating my own bowl of stir fry (I'm partial to FlatTop myself) I think it would be easier for us to orgainze closer to the event. Actually, there is a BigBowl within 40 yards of Gameworks in the same parking lot, so we could meet there too. How about we take a poll till tommorow morining:

Chipotle or Big Bowl.

I just sent an email to see if we needed anything for this exercise. No insight was gained, but here's the reply:

Hi ROBOGriff!
I'm so proud of you guys for making such a big trip for our training
event. VERY cool.
I don't know what Melissa has in store for us, so I can't say what
would be helpful to bring besides ID. I suppose cell phones might be
useful in case we need to communicate with each other, but other than
that, your guess is as good as mine!

Everyone knows this is at the movie theater right? NOT Gameworks!

Oh and Chipotle at 4 sounds awesome.
