That said, I'd be very, very careful what you post in this thread and in other places online regarding legal issues with anyone. Things can come back and bite you in the ass.

Even if there really is/was a legitimate C&D and all of this is happening just like this dude says, it's not professional at all to be posting about your legal problems on public forums online. Any respect I might've had for this project and the people working on it is severely diminished because of this, and I can't imagine I'm the only one who feels this way.

Besides, what could we possibly do, as amateur filmmakers/fans of the mythos? Is the purpose of all of these "updates" that are posted on the legal status of this company and the film to make us dislike Surge, somehow - thereby bringing us together in solidarity against him and in support of Der Ritter (which will, if this occurs, conveniently reap the benefits of all this)?

EDIT: I'd also like to point out that they have posted videos from several of the "big" series, as well as a few lesser-known ones, on their promotional website. (http://www.whatisslenderman.com/#!encounters/c1t44)

This all seems rather silly.

I hope reason prevails and I wish you (OP) the best, but as others have said, this all seems rather absurd, unprofessional, and biased.

If it's a nonsensical C&D, then so be it, hopefully your legal team will find a comfortable settlement / avoid any unnecessary repercussions. Also, as others have said, it seems that you have used others' content (tangible content that we have made, not an "idea" which we would all agree is not covered by a legitimate copyright) without permission. These are all public YouTube works and so I do not mind, but what if there are some behind-the-scenes partnerships between your legal adversary and one of these parties? Maybe that is the cause of this claim?

Again, if you are truly a victim here, then I apologize. But this all just reiterates an idea that many people share. Yes, you can turn to the internet for support and advice, but sometimes you have to either wait until a certain point before sharing information, or just keep it to yourself and your legal partners.

This is a message board that has been victim to teenage tabloids and high school drama of every blend, and you chose to disclose legal information (literally posting a cease and desist copy). I do not condemn you or your actions, I just hope you realize, as other users have noted, that this can really hurt you. There's a reason why lawyers will tell you, "just keep quiet," before a case comes to fruition. Even if you didn't do anything wrong, a slight misstep in your communication could condemn you and your case. Everything on the internet can be traced and brought back.

Good luck. If I were you, I would delete all of these posts and update us when a conclusion is met. Or, delete the exact details of this case and keep it veiled without bringing the exact players into the public's eye.

Ha! Looks like someone's lawyers told them that this was all a very very bad idea.

Now that the usefulness (and I use that term loosely) of this thread has been gutted because Infamous Pictures deleted all his posts... I'll be locking it.
