Seeing as it would take some psychological imagery and descriptiveness in order to capture the feel of MH, I'd imagine it would take a looooong time.

Well normal fiction can capture the same amount of psychological imagery, I don't see why a fanfiction wouldn't be able to.

Yet another recommendation that's lovely and psychological:
http://www.fanfiction.net/s/7208944/1/Things-That-I-Can-t-Remember

also a friend I have via tumblr is apparently working on some sort of Doctor Who/Supernatural/Marble Hornets crossover which promises to be fairly... interesting....

No, not stupid. Lazy, maybe. Wink You have the entirety of the Internet to search for what these words mean.

Go on. I'll wait. I'll be over here at the table in the corner when you come back, bottle of whiskey at the ready.

Nope, not any. It was my impression that fanfiction had been dreamt up by middle-aged female fans of Star Trek in the 1970s. If teenybopper fangirls are just smashing together any characters they like just for the lulz, then I can see why you'd be offended.

And you COMPLETELY misconstrued my use of the word "ungodly" had I meant going against a religion or anything. If I was, I would have used a word specifically saying exactly that. Here I'm using it meaning something along the lines of weird, strange, off-the-wall, etc.

I don't think I misconstrued at all. For all that it matters, I'm an atheist, so "ungodly" in a religious sense means about as much to me as "gfxhilnentp." But I never know what beliefs an Internet acquaintance has, so I quoted the word because it was the word you used.

I think what I most reacted to was the anger (all caps ranting and mad-as-hell emoticon) in your post, and I figured that if I had to go out swinging, batting for Nadine Strossen's team is the way I'd rather go.

From all the reaction in this thread, I'm definitely getting the impression that it would have been much, much better for me to have simply posted:
    Rule 34, lolololololololol.

Not bad, actually. I liked the
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Operator communication/mind control part
. Cool.

Wow, that fic you posted the link to looks really interesting! I`m going to give it a read now. It definitely sounds like the type of MH fanfiction I wish there was more of.

The fic your friend is working on seems really interesting too. If she ever puts it up somewhere, I`d love to read it.

That was... enlightening. People come up with the weirdest terms for basic things.

And I believe in Rule 34 for better or worse. Usually for worse. Sad

Steady on, my boy. Sit down. Whiskey neat, or rocks?

The terms actually make sense if you know their etymology. If you're interested, shoot me a PM; I believe I've dissertated enough in this thread.

I actually laughed out loud at that, I'm sorry.

This was superb, one of the best pieces of fanfiction I've read in some time.

If I'm not supposed to google it, then what is a lemon party..?

Edit: I'm going to finish writing my Silent Hill-esque (It adapted REALLY well into the Silent Hill world, so I wrote it in) fiction. I'll probably post it some day after I'm satisfied that the quality won't leave me embarrassed.

Love me some Silent Hill. Please post it so I can read it when you're done?

I wrote some Dead Space fanfiction recently, which has done well with the few friends I was brave enough to show it to...

I do write stories once in a while, sometimes fics. I was NOT proud with the shit ones I made in the past but I was 17/18 at the time...I rarely write them because I tend to get some really bad blocks in the head.

If you want a really bad MH fic, try a Naruto/MH crossover. Thankfully, the author stopped writing it after she got all pissy with the reviews she got.

Sharingan has powers as the plot demands, Operator symbol does everything from killing The Operator to making great tasting diet soda depending on how much acid the fans are on, I'd say it's a match made in Hell.

I'll try to find it but I'm guessing the author took it down.

Edit update: Yep, I was right, the fic was taken down by the author.
