I can't even see the poll standings anymore, but it seems like I can vote as much as I want again. Refreshing the page didn't work for me several days ago.

EDIT: Never mind; completly. It must have been a glitch or something because now I can see the standings and can't vote anymore.

EDIT 2: Okay, this thing is messing with me. I can vote again and blah blah blah. I'm just going to go with it if I can.

Something about which Troy is being very gracious.

I'm not sure what he's saying is so impressive.

Bro, he linked to a kickstarter page for LBD that indicates they raised over $400,000. That's a seriously rabid fanbase. Besides, less people in general will be able to stomach MH's horror and jump scares well enough to break through to being interested in the story rather than just losing sleep over the tall man. I think I agree with Troy, pretty awesome they came in second to something with a much wider appeal.

$400,000 on KS is nothing to sneeze at, but in all fairness, it was Hank Green (Vlogbrothers, SciShow) who started the kicking. Hard to imagine how that might fail.

Really, what I was pointing out was that Troy politely declined to whip his own fans into a frenzy.

I mean, I don't know how the fan populations would split numerically between the shows, but my guess is that even if LBD fans greatly outnumber those of MH, many more of the macro-writing/IP spoofing-savvy types are in the MH camp.

(I could be wrong, but this is my guess.)

Edited to add: re-reading that, I had better quickly add that NO ONE I know on these boards would ever, ever, do such an underhanded, despicable thing.

I would wager that Troy might not appreciate us going all "Lance Armstrong" on the poll and using cheat-to-win tactics. That could fall back on him and his losing credibility. I think he gains more credibility by graciously taking a legitimately earned second place.

Sha Noran, you're absolutely right. Shame on me for even acknowledging the thought.

Pretty sure I've seen that before. And I wouldn't be surprised if Troy could pull down those kinds of numbers. Entry 70 has 89,000 views, if each one donated $5, he'd raise $445,000. And I also don't see that as in any way indicative of the quality of the series. Just, overall, not impressed by that.

No, I didn't really expect Troy to care about the poll. Don't think he'd particularly care about you guys fucking raiding it Anonymous-style, either. Most of that was the blogger's fault for designing the poll wrong. If s/he got all pissed, he'd probably apologize, but say that it really had nothing to do with him, or most of his fans.

Yeah I don't see Troy caring much about some web-poll on some website (I don't know if this site is well known or something. I personally never heard of it before now).

Haha, easy there tiger. I didn't think I was calling you out, and didn't mean to if i did.

I suggested it was possible, that's all. I actually agree that MH fans are more likely to be privy to those techniques, but all it takes is a google search to figure it out these days, so it's not really unlikely that LBD fans could figure it out either. I do think he gains credibility for graciously taking second without even trying though! That's why I didn't go out of my way with a macro or anything. If Troy had posted a video asking us to win it for him, let's just say.... I think we would have won it for him. Smile
