In case you didn't know, there's an upcoming feature that allows you to name almost any mob, which will prevent it from despawning, slimes included.

Oh, it's okay, now. The nice men in white coats are on their way to take me to a quiet place-- they say computers upset me and I'll be put in a room with an old TV, a VCR, a typewriter and lots of books to read while soothing music is constantly piped into the room. I will be happy there.

They need to hurry up and bring the Xbox 360 version of the game up to date with the PC version. Then I can get my iron-golemn-villager-trading-armor-dyeing-everything-else-cool-we-can't-do-yet on.
