I was kind of thinking the same thing. There are a lot of misconceptions in your post.

Passion does not necessarily equate to good discussion. There are many things that a passionate fan might do, aside from detailed discussion:

>Believe things that are blatantly wrong about the work.
>Be way too caught up in their opinions, & the opinions of others.
>Be insulting to those they deem inferior fans.
>Complain all the goddamn time because their standards are too high.
>Alternatively, never let anyone complain about anything, because that's not what a True Fan (TM) would do.

>If this type of fan happens to compose the board staff, you might find yourself censored &/or banned for completely stupid, trumped up reasons.

So a large amount of passionate fans is just as easy to result in a lot of bad discussion, if not easier. After all, Sturgeon's Law.

For the record, I'm not referring to this board in any of those cases.

Also, none of that is any reason why non-MH subjects should be avoided at all costs. I just happened to get into a discussion with Genaux about Dragonball Z, why should I have to break out an ultimatum like, "Listen, either follow me to the DBZ Wiki, or this conversation is over"? If it's allowed, what's the B-F-D? I personally find the imaginary show thing boring & annoying, but I just made a snipe & called it a day, I'm not going to seriously argue that people should stop it.

There is a line that often comes up when people complain about topic drift, which I find myself agreeing to pretty much every time:

"If you think we should be talking about something else, feel free to bring it up."

 		So has Jay just spent the last 4 days wrapping the tape in the classified ads of some newspaper whispering "I'll get you working again, don't let unemployment rates discourage you my love" or something?

RAAAGE at lack of new entry.

Double RAAAGE at the fact that I'm going to have to spend the next 2 weeks listening to my friends orgasm over The Great Gatsby.

Triple RAAAGE that I'm going to be working my ass off this weekend because in addition to studying for finals and writing final papers I'm going to have to work extra hours since i work at a Greenhouse and mother's day weekend is like our Christmas.

Quadruple RAAAGE that I've only won 5 PvP matches in the past week and a half and there's no way in hell I'm going to be able to win 5 more to unlock my favorite Freljord banner on League of Legends.
