Seems like this could be quite interesting. I wasn't around to see the Jejune Institute but I'll keep an eye on this and see what happens.

I just got home from the screening of the Institute sort-of-documentary in Oakland. The last frames after the credits say thelatitude.com. I called out the director during the Q&A and he said he didn't put that there and had no idea what it was.

I think it's GAME ON!

I was at a screening of the Institute today, and someone asked the director about the latitude. He denied knowing anything about it or even of hearing about it before.

Three password fields. First takes exactly four letters, second takes exactly ten letters, third takes exactly four digits.

Speculation:

1) the four digits are a year? Not sure what that would make the other two. A person's name or an event perhaps?
2) If we're to take the name The Latitude quite literally the digits could be the latitude of a place (expressed in degrees, minutes). That would make the other two a city/state, city/country or something like that?
3) The Institute movie site says that if you watch a screening of the film and answer all the questions from the Induction card you'll get

Has anyone done this? Maybe that little black box contains what opens the Latitude? (In which case all my speculation is totally in vain).

Awesome! Though, at first glance it just looks like memorabilia from the Jejune institue. You can see many of the same things here: http://foter.com/Devine+Nonchalance/ from back in 2009. (Though I didn't play that nor have I been through the Jejune archives exhaustively, so I can't say for sure that there isn't something related to The Latitude in there.)

Also, that 888 number on the sticker now redirects to a RL apartment complex in San Jose. Embarassed

EDIT: So, I don't think anyone posted this yet, but back in Sept. the nonchalance tumblr:

one member of the audience will be selected by Coleman Esq. for initiation into the Latitude Society (at his discretion).
So at least one person somewhere in California is in the club, I guess.

screening of the institute

Just attended a screening of The Institute. The director was in full-on game mode, acting, and openly invited people to try to search for more.

Wish I had come here first I would have taped the interview.

So out of the random things I remember.

He randomly mentioned working for a pet cloning company before creating videos for Nonchalance.

He suggested we visit the site (didn't mention which one) and poke around.

Didn't deny that there were a mix of fictional and real characters in the doc.

He said there was tons of material out there and that possibly people might even be sent some of the "lost" material. Specifically said we should look up Eva who really existed and really disappeared.

He also mentioned that people could still be "inducted". I did see the cards on the movie site.

Terrible at puzzles, don't know if any of that helped.
