Also, there'd been an update to the Life Extension Project page:
http://www.thehansofoundation.org/lep.html

Heh. They refer to the guy as Einar Ragnarsson first, then as Einarsson. Perhaps it's two people. Perhaps Einarsson is Ragnarsson's son.

Or perhaps they should proofread more carefully.

Not exactly sure how it was first found, but looks like some ARGish things have been going under our noses all week! The bulk of the discussion begins around this page (if you're up for a long read)

At one of the Lost forums someone pointed out http://polar.kingcrossstatepolice.com/.

I won't post my "Agent #" because apparently he's serious about deleting people's accounts for posting the emails on forums Smile

Some others have contacted and received replies from Lars Navajo (aka Alvar Hanso) and the snowman as well. Most appear to be personalized responses, not automated. The gist of it from what I can tell is some type of war going on between Dharma and Hanso, one hiding information and the other trying to get it.

I missed the first email from Dr. Candle, but it was sent out Wednesday afternoon and listed exactly what would be happening in the episode later that night.
My guess *fingers crossed* is some type of interaction/ARGish-like game to keep us occupied during reruns for the next six weeks.

Couple other sites not in this thread yet:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Clicking on the 108 in the middle/right-hand side of the numbers brings up some text and a bunch of hidden links within the numbers - sites, morse code clips, images etc

http://www.oceanicworldair.com/
Clicking 'Contact Us' links to a page called Dharma Swan Station which counts down by intervals of The Numbers.
Also sign up under 'News' and pass the security screening to get included in the newsletter and alert system.

There's a whole load of stuff to poke around in, but I'm at work and have already spent too much time procrastinating Confused

-------------------
Bit OT, but the best post(s) in their forums so far:

"It's very surreal to me. They're doing something that's NEVER been done before. "Everything is About to Change""

"I agree, this is something entierly new. Not only is it great to be able to watch lost on Weds. but the rest of the week we get to immerse ourselves in this mystery."

So who wants to play ambassador? Laughing

Oh, and the normal whois type stuff:

At Kraftkost.com I found this (in the source):

Quote:
Darma Industries. Creating a better society through human cloning experimentation. Developed by the Hanso Foundation in 1960 the Darma Initiative was set to begin on a small island off the coast of Australia. After a series of mysterious accidents, all inhabitants were Lost! Learn more about Darma Industries and their current projects.

And yes, Kraftkost could be translated into "power food", but it seems like such an odd combination of words ...

I would say the Krafkost thing isn't necessarily real, only because of the misspelling of Dharma and the capitalization of Lost.

I took it upon myself to deal with the long string of numbers at the bottom of the source code the Alvar Hanso "bio" page.

http://www.thehansofoundation.org/alvarhanso.html

I know that Lucent posted about finding a password in reversed ASCII on this page, but here's what I found in the ASCII code on the alvarhanso page (spaced for readability)

Quote:

images/gholtr_2.gif

<object classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000" codebase="http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#
version=6,0,0,0" width="233" height="149" id="prompt"align="middle">

<param name="allowScriptAccess" value="sameDomain" />
<param name="movie" value="prompt.swf"/>
<param name="quality" value="high" />
<param name="bgcolor" value="#333333" />
<embed src="prompt.swf" quality="high" bgcolor="#333333" width="233" height="149" name="prompt" align="middle" allowScriptAccess="sameDomain" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" />

</object>

The image is just the same one we find by clicking on the picture of Alvar Hanso, so why go to all the trouble to put the ASCII in the source code? Am I missing something here? Also, is it just bad design that the page can scroll to the right for about five miles, or something intentional?

Just throwing this stuff out there.

Pick up a copy of USA Today from December 21, 2005. Check out the Life section, page 4D, the article all the way at the bottom.

I find it completely amazing that such a high profile ARG has been going on and we havent even NOTICED it.

Anyone know whats going on in the story so far? Im kinda walking into the middle of the story and its tought to concieve....

Im sure this is some kinda puzzle just cant figure it out. The x might be making out some kinda pattern.

http://www.oceanicworldair.com/flights.htm

Quote:
First, here is the link. http://www.oceanicworldair.com/

Okay, once you arrive at the link.

Click on search.

This takes you to this link. http://www.oceanicworldair.com/flights.htm

Clues are provided under Stops and Frequency. The clues are the numbers or X's that are underlined.

I know that many of you have seen this already, but there are new ones. I am going to take a shot at putting them in context.

1. The underlined X for Flight 518 indicates, when you click on it, that no seats are available. I will explain why later.

2. The underlined 1 for Flight 164 indicates, when you click on it, an apparently blank page. Move your cursor to the upper left hand corner and an eyeball appears. Continue to move your cursor over the eye and it will flash the message Eko Is.

3. The underlined X for Flight 415 indicates, when clicked on, the now famous memo concerning the crash of flight 815 and the fact that HANSO, a defense contractor, will be handling any further investigations concerning the disaster.

4. The underlined 1 for Flight 415, when clicked on, shows the memo concerning the crash of an Oceanic 747-400 (different type airplane than the 815 airplane) on November 16, 2000. The Tail Number of this aircraft is N518OA. This flight was not commercial (a repositioning flight) and thus if you go back to my item number 1 above, you see why NO SEATS WERE AVAILABLE.

5. The underlined X for Flight 817, when clicked upon, brings up a photo of Mr. Eko (when he was beating the tar out of Sawyer). What I think is important about this particular photo is the crazy wild eyed look Eko has. I think this photo of his eyes links to my item number 2 above.....and has SOMETHING to do with Mr. Eko's eye (s) ??????? Could it relate to the glass eye found in the Arrow Hatch?????? Just speculation.

6.The underlined X for Flight 816, when clicked upon, takes us to the login page for the dharmainitiative.org. At this point, I think that no one has been able to figure out how to get into this site.

NOW, GO BACK TO THE MAIN PAGE. OVER SEVERAL DAYS NOW WE HAVE SEEN FRONT PAGES OF NEWSPAPERS APPEARING. YOU WILL HAVE TO MOVE YOUR CURSOR AROUND UNTIL YOU GET THE LITTLE BLUE BUTTON SO YOU CAN ELNARGE THE PAGE.

The first front page to appear was this one:

http://www.oceanicworldair.com/Sydne...20051115GM.gif

Reports of an oceanic air jet crashing in the Pacific Ocean near Fiji BRING BACK MEMORIES OF FLIGHT 815, WHICH CRASHED IN SEPTEMBER 2004. Reports indicate this jet was flying too low and was in obvious trouble. OCEANIC WORLD AIR REPORTS ALL AIRCRAFT ACCOUNTED FOR AND SYDNEY ATC SAYS NO AIRCRAFT ARE MISSING.

The second front page to appear was this one:

http://www.oceanicworldair.com/Sydne...20051115GM.gif

After reports of an airliner crashing in the Pacific near Fiji, experts were dispatched to look for wreckage.....and they found wreckage.....but not from a new crash or from Flight 815. Rather, THEY RECOVERED WRECKAGE FROM FLIGHT 518, WHICH CRASHED IN NOVEMBER 2000. THIS AIRCRAFT, TAIL NUMBER N518OA, WAS A 747-400. (SOUND FAMILIAR???)

The third front page to appear is this one:

http://www.oceanicworldair.com/Sydne...20051123GM.gif

The logical article to look at involves the Sea King helicopter which nearly had an accident......what I suppose might be interesting is the missing split pins in the tarpaulin hinge on the tail of the helicopter. A missing split pin caused the crash of another Sea King helicopter on the Indonesian Island of Nias (?). The article concludes that one of the aircrew who was supposed to fly is under psychological assessment.

So, to summarize:

In November 2000, a repositioning flight (747-400) crashed into the Pacific Ocean near Fiji. Only crew is onboard, airplane completely lost.

In September 2004, Oceanic Air Flight 815 crashes into the Pacific Ocean. All passengers presumed dead, no wreckage found.

2005, witnesses report seeing an Oceanic World Air airliner crashing into the Pacific Ocean near Fiji. Oceanic World Air has been operating repositioning flights but reports all aircraft accounted for. Sydney ATC confirms no missing aircraft.

Experts travel to scene and recover wreckage....but not from new flight or flight 815....instead, retreive wreckage from Nov 2000 aircraft.

Add to this Mr. Eko photograph and the eye image which flashes Eko Is.

Where can we go with this........? I like the idea of these recurring missing aircraft and the implications.

I am looking for strong minds here to help me add to this. Even if it is bogus and not a former writer providing clues, it passes the time and will give us something to do during the arduous re-run weeks ahead.

This is a post from the forum that was posted earlier apperantly there is alot of puzzles being solved already.[/quote]

We noticed, we just stopped treating it as a potential ARG. Is there a "story so far" at all? The site you mentioned is not ABC owned or sanctioned. You pasted some stuff which you found on another forum, so you know of a place where people are interested in these kinds of fan-made puzzles. Personally, I've found most of it fairly pointless.

I don't think it went unnoticed - i think most of us don't care right now, as there is enough sanctioned stuff going on. Personal viewpoint.

I'm not so sure this is an ARG, to be honest. It seems to me that if this was an actual ARG, Dr. Marvin Candle wouldn't be commenting on things we're seeing on episodes of the show. I've never played an ARG that had a successful television show running alongside it, of course, but I get the impression it's nothing more than a creative and relatively original (for mainstream sake) way to use the internet as a means to entertain viewers and create an even stronger fan base.

If this was an ARG, it seems to me there would be more puzzles, more interaction with characters, less talking about things that are happening in the show and more talking about Alvar Hanso and that whole situation. We're getting bits and pieces on that, but i believe that's only as a teaser so viewers know what is coming up in the show.

By the way, long live metacortex! heh.

I hate to bring up something that many people don't think is an ARG and would rather let die. But what the hell. I received an IM earlier from someone, it's also on that thread.
