Re: Pulau Jong Riddles & spoilers

I saw Prömetheus' posts on the "official" Volvo blog and knew what he was up to, as I have been fiddling with the same.

While a newbie to this forum, and not entirely confortable with other newbies blatantly posting answers without helpful clues, I'm thinking the actions of this guy could cripple the contest for anyone seriously trying for the final prize.

Sure, it's possible to cheat and get a bit ahead of the clock... and we could argue that we're safe in the sense that the answers are not immediately visible to cheaters and must still be put together in your head to continue. (The coordinates are only handed to you on Bermuda so far, and I suspect the rest will continue to be more difficult.)

Prömetheus: I would request that you to stay off your high horse on this forum and play nicely. If you want a trump card, I've pulled this out of my time machine:

Prömetheus,
The site you posted requires a user/pass. Was that intentional?

When I put in the coordinates for Palau, I get a screen saying I need a keyword to proceed which I will recieve by email on the 21st... but I have been reading comments involving people already in Palau doing things... any suggestions or input?

If you're registered with a legitimate email address that you 'own' and have access to, then you probably have as much chance of winning as anyone else.

I use Outlook and send the read-receipts I get from Volvo, but the only emails I've received have been the first one when I registered about the dice, then the one yesterday about the four blue corners.

You don't need the emails because the riddles in them are available in the game anyway. If (like me, I suspect) you don't receive an email tomorrow to help you past Pulau Jong, I suspect that if you just go to the island after it's been unlocked, the message that tells you to wait until the 21st for the next email will have changed to read the riddle in the email tomorrow. Then you can go back to the map and get the new keyword to progress. This is what's happened for me so far with the intermediary emails I've missed.

Fingers crossed it won't be a problem.

Math problem on map?

Hi guys, I registered just a few days after the hunt started and it seems like up until today you've all been just a few steps ahead of me in working through the puzzles. I haven't used many of the spoilers on here, but I think it's great that you're all helping each other out. Now that I'm waiting on Pulau Jong, I'll hopefully be able to add some useful tips as well.

I did just notice something today. On the map, there seems to be an equal sign right above the Deep Hole. It can't be an accident, and I was trying to figure out if it might come in useful. The hidden "LIFE" is right above and to the right of it, but I think that what makes more sense is that we'll have to add together "Slough of 3" and "4 Trees" if that little cross on the headstone is in fact a plus sign. So maybe a future answer is "7"? We'll have to wait and see ...

Confused, maybe just stupid...

Ok, so I'm really confused. I got a clue for Ile St. D'marie in my email, but for the life of me I don't remember being on that Ile, and am, instead, sitting waiting for the Pulau Jong clue like the rest of the US (I think.) What's up? Did I miss something vital?

Man, I feel about as dumb as a rock.

EDIT - Merged into the rest of the Volvo Topic, so as to prevent assplosions all over the forums of Volvo goodness. - SG

I've been bouncing back and forth between webmail and outlook....am I the only one who is using countless hours at work on this? If I don't get an email tomorrow, do you think I should just start over? I'd really like to do this at work instead of at home, and at work I can only use webmail. Any advice?

How to get into Pulao Jong

Hmmm, as hinted earlier, there are ways around the stop points that are being imposed on us. Don't worry though, as before, you can't actually get to the island after Pulao Jong, it redirects to a wrong coordinates page as soon as it loads.

This post proves that you can get in there, just a subtle change in the HTML is required (pre 21st and post 21st)

HMMMMM

Based on the snippet from the original email:
Volvo wrote:
The Hunt started on June 12th and ends July 12th. In case you joined late, you have every opportunity to catch up. The clues you missed so far can be found within The Hunt website volvocars.us/thehunt.

It seems that if you loaded the The Hunt map on the first day, there were no 'trail' marks. If you loaded it a few days later, there were marks leading to the inlet. Loading after the 16th, the marks led to Count Bay. It would only make sense than the main map will be updated after the 21st with the trail to Round Pond.

I can find no statefullness maintained by any type of cookie or puzzle completion. The only thing holding you back are your notes and how far you've been able to figure out (and whatever puzzles haven't been loaded on the web site yet!)

If you've caused something to change or animate, it will do the exact same thing upon reload until they update the flash content.

I have gotten to Pulau Jong but have not recieved the email on the 21st they said they would be sending. I know about the roundcircle but don't know what to do with it. The Pulau Jong page won't take any solutions.

I don't think the sun is even up in Tokyo yet. It's still the 20th in most of the world.

ROUNDCIRCLE was for St Mary's. If you've passed it, don't worry.

The clue to finding the keyword for Pulau Jong has not been mailed yet.
