I'm there as AngBa -

My question is that someone FROM the family has to be in St. Augustine to retreive the heirloom, it can't be a recruited member... shouldn't someone work on getting someone from the area to actively play?

or could that possibly mean that no player can do it, we have to have a IG character that'll represent us? that would remove the location issues, if the endgame is played out by us directing an "official" family member NPC with the info we have accumulated... that's what it sounded like to me.

But have you noticed any NPCs (beside Taylor) posting on the boards?

Not yet - but who knows. Obviously the game will be over here in about a month... I was just trying to think ahead Smile

there were several other "official" family members on the comments on the blog.

just brainstorming and all. that was my first interpretation of
Quote:
Also, be advised that whil family representatives can help with location trials, only actual family members can be involved with the heirloom itself.

I just noticed that Ravelo got the first challenge piece, but the poster was a name I didn't recognize - Rogelio.

Is everyone playing using their UF nicknames on the LawnGames message boards, or did some of you choose different names?

I just got back from lunch and Taylor emailed me - Looks like Williams/Freemont got 9points, and we were given this challenge piece:
Oh good, I was gonna sign up as a Williams/Freemont anyway. However, I can't view the file as I don't know what the user/pass is. Can you enlighten me and (the rest of us? I personally don't see anything wrong with sharing all the info we get and just letting the 'points' fall randomly as people get the solves. We're all family, right? Very Happy )

But wouldn't that be disrespectful of our dear aunt Anna's wishes?
She went to all this trouble to set-up teams and all....

EDIT:
I do wonder, though... Whether we're getting the same peices or different ones for each family/challenge.. Given the location/naming convention, I'd say we are.

And yet I quote Taylor:
Quote:
In the game, players divide themselves up into 4 teams. Each team is represented by a different branch in Anna Ravelo's extended family. Players can also freely float between teams or play on their own. But only the family/teams earn points.

How can people float and/or play on their own if no one shares?

And there, there is this quote where Aunt Anna says we have to to work together, which doesn't really fly if everyone is keeping secrets.
Quote:
But if you don't work together to unveil it, it will be lost forever.

Seriously, keeping secrets is bad juju. Didn't anyone listen to the ARGcast this week? They talked about lurkers not being able to progress further along in a game because people don't share information. I'm an active enough player and here I am "stuck" because I'm not special enough (ie gun-ho about emailing characters) to know what the password is. I would hate to imagine what other people just randomly looking at this game must be feeling.

I think we're each gonna get the same one.
The way I understood the rules, theres 13 where-when challenge pieces, one for each location trial, and 13 burden-to-bring challenge pieces, one for each legend trial.

Any family that solves one of the trials (even if not first, just has to submit a correct answer) gets access to that trial's respective challenge piece, which form 2 meta-puzzles. the where-when challenge meta-puzzle tells us exactly where and when the heirloom will be available. the burden-to-bring metapuzzle tells exactly what that representative must have with them to be able to claim it.

But each team gets the same pieces of the same puzzle. the passwords are just to make teams figure out the lesser puzzles in order to have a shot at the final one.

I think.

Edit: Rowan, I did answer and I still didn't get the password. only the first correct response from each family is given the password.

I don't think I've EVAR been accused of inappropriately withholding information around here. It was just my interpretation of the rules, as posted.

So, in the hope that it really doesn't matter, here's what I got from Taylor:
Quote:
yes!

10 points for ravelo.

and pick up your family's where-when challenge piece:
http://www.lawngamesforlife.com/Challenge_Pieces/WhereWhen/1/ww_01.jpg

log in with your family's name and this password:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
fud330

Edited to Spoiler the Password. (Just in case others have an issue with that.)
