[META][OT]Interaction with PMs and Questions
Post here with any puppetmaster interaction or questions about forum etiquette.

OK, I created this thread to serve as a general "miscellaneous" thread--if it's not really in-game and you don't know where it should go, this can be the place. The main purpose, however, is for questions and comments about gameplay--whether it's an OOG email from the PMs, figuring out the limits to gaming prestige and karma, or wondering how to post these awesome emoticons Screwy .

General posting guidelines can be found here: it is an invaluable resource for UnFiction members, and a quick read.

Proper implementation of Spoiler tags (always a controversial issue) is addressed extremely well in this thread. While there is no definitive answer, it gives excellent guidelines.

So, make use of this as you will, and hopefully it helps.

Message from PMs
On the return of credits and karma

Thanks for posting this topic, notgordian--I was hesitant to post another base area topic, in case there was already an appropriate place and I just hadn't seen it. Being a newbie has its hazards.

All right. Here is an email sent and the reply I got when I asked about the Sodality puzzle and how I thought I'd entered everything correctly but it still didn't accept an answer. (I think now that I probably misspelled "Napoleon"--me, the former spelling bee geek.)

To DC:

Quote:
Sodality puzzle seems to be case sensitive or care about spaces or something. I put in the correct answer (I think) and then received negative karma and credits because I didn't put in capitalization in a particular way. Could someone check this and refund my karma and credits if I am correct? And if not, could someone please check what I did wrong and let me know so that I can make sure I'm more careful next time?

From DC:

Pied Piper,

I see that you are one of our newer agents, I hope that you are enjoying the interface and we thank you for helping us to improve it. Regarding your earlier query about Karma. The system is working correctly, some tasks will require agents to have a bit more experience before they can be accessed. We don't want to give away too much about how the system assigns karma, its up to agents to learn what can affect it. We can assure you it is possible to get to everything you need once the time is right.

Regarding your question about the specific task you are attempting to solve. You aren't the first person to ask about this particular task, we've created a new FAQ item about it. Visit http://deuscity.com/faq and see "Why doesn't task x accept my perfect answer".
As far as refunds, we will only return stats that are affected by a failure in the system.

Thanks!
Deus City Bug Team

So, it looks like if you can get them to acknowledge that you've been unfairly docked, they'll refund it. Which must mean they're tracking how our credits/karma gets spent.

silliness

Can I put out a weird request? I'm finding that since we have both puppet masters and private messages that this can get confusing. SO can we just do PM for puppet masters and pm for private messages?or vise versa? i'm just getting really confused!

I was just about to ask this myself! Thank you, taurean.

I've been using just "message" to mean a private message through the system, and PM to mean PuppetMasters.

Since the is the General Miscellaneous Thread I figured I should post this here.

I've just noticed theDC messaging system is a bit screwy. I received a few new private messages but they are all intermixed with the previous ones I received. I have no way of telling when which message came in.

So, word of caution, if you are building up several pms (hmm, not sure this will work either Laughing ) be sure to check back through all of them so you don't miss any.

well, i'm too lazy to write messaging..... but we may have too. Well, actually my fingers type so much slower than my brain works i have to use pm to let my fingers catch up.

but we really have no need of mentioning the PMs as it were at all.

Yeah, I've noticed the ordering is a little off, too. At first I thought it ordered by the person who sent it, since my Theo ones got lumped together, but then my latest message from Theo went astray. So I have no idea what order they come in.

I'd noticed that as well. I only realized it when I got a message from trace asking me why I hadn't replied--and I realized that his messages were intermingled with older messages.

I think I'm going to follow your way of doing things, Lex--I'll just call it a message, that will help me to keep it straight in my own mind, and leave no confusion for everyone else.

You know, I've been thinking about the messaging system in Deus City. I wonder if at some point, some of our messages are going to come up missing, or if we stand less of a chance of having our messages get hacked into by the corp if we don't keep them on the system there. What do all of you think?

The advertisement displays

I'm wondering--does anyone else see anything on the advertisement pages, or are they just placeholders to let us know that there is no news on a particular day?

I don't want to bug the PMs if it isn't really a bug.

Changing Karma

I just sent a message to the puppet masters to let them know that for the posts in the forums, at least, our karma colors should probably be shown as they were when we first made the post. I realized that some comments sound entirely different when coming from a green than they do when coming from a red.

Let's see what they come up with.
