you know what gets me with overnight? two things:
1) Its already been used. I would thinks JJ would want something unique. He would come up with a name significant to him, as well as the movie, and overnight doesnt seem original enough.
2) the fact that we so easily found it. Come on, it was so easy to find, yould think theyld put it under a ghost company or something.

Uh, they did.
Group One Productions LLC
Go on a bit of a search for info about that company. It's about as substantial a result as a ghost.

hey so i've totally noticed the word trout all over the forums... what does that mean?...

idk if you trout (like a verb)

or if you are a trout (like a noun)

or wat?

just wanting to know so i dont unintenionally do it...

I could try to compose something, but this quote will do it very well:

(Lifted from here. )
And yes tigerbaby, there does on occasion seem to be catch and release being practiced on some trout. Most trout fishermen practice catch and release, but usually the trout do get smarter. Wink

Statment retracted, it should have read:
They used the same laywer to trademark Slusho! Do i have it right now, or am i still mistaken?

So who's going to watch you die?...

Yes, they did use the same lawyer - but really how quickly do you think they figure people would make that connection? I'd almost bet you those lawyers have also done some such work for other parties too, so that doesn't necessarily solidly point to Paramount/Bad Robot/Abrams/et al as the holders of the trademark. Connecting Group One Productions LLC is what allows us to make that connection, and I'm not sure we have.
That being the case, it can still be dismissed (actively or passively, the latter being how it's being done now).

A few things to note in retrospect:

-Paramount filed the trademark for "Cloverfield' on December 10, 2007. Strangely, they do not claim use of the name with a motion picture, but with paraphernalia (hats, shirts, Halloween costumes, etc.)

-No one to my knowledge ever came forward claiming to be making a movie called "Overnight."

-An opposition was published against the "Overnight" trademark on January 1, 2008. That basically means someone already claims use of the trademark or otherwise doesn't think they have the right to use it.
