Will audiences get their fair share of T.J. Miller in this?
Audiences are going to get less than any share of T.J. Miller. They're going to get a fraction of what is considered a fair share of me. You will probably see my face for possibly 3 minutes and twenty-five seconds. It's possibly the weirdest situation I've been in. But you'll hear me, and I'll be present in the movie for the entire duration of the film.

Is that information that you are able to reveal?
Yeah, I think so. You can say that it's safe to say that because I'm behind the camera and you're going to hear a lot more of me than you're going to see. And you can get that from the preview. In the preview you don't see me at all, you just hear me. It's going to be crazy. It's going to be everything the JJ Abrams fan wants out of a movie and probably more.

Is it hard to keep a secret this big?
I'm not a guy who runs out and is like, "Look what happened to me!" But I think it's strange because in every other film, they want you to talk about it as much as you can. They just want people to be aware of it, and in this one I just got a call because I spoke to a PA who is on the trailer but isn't on the movie and I talked to her about the film in some bar and it got back to them. They said that this was a huge problem, "You can't go out drinking and talk about the movie." I didn't know she wasn't on it. They're furious about how secretive it is. Nobody can really confirm what is going on in the film. You just can't. It's even almost hard for me to confirm anything. I didn't get the script until after I signed onto the project, and even when I did get the script I wasn't told what was going on. It's a very strange project to work on.

What would happen if somehow it slipped out?
It's JJ Abrams. I'd never be able to work with him again or I would have to be in Mission Impossible: 4. Both of which are disconcerting to me.

I make a motion that we accept this interview + the other evidence already discussed as once-and-for-all proof that Hud is the cameraman in the trailer. In other words, we have an answer to at least one of the many trailer questions.

Also, his statements lead me to believe that the entire movie will be shot from the camera.

Actually, that interview does confirm that the lion's share of this movie will be from Hud's perspective behind a video camera. It also lends credence to the popular notion that Hud's name was created as a parody of the common First-Person Shooter term, HUD (Heads Up Display). That doesn't even begin to touch on the Blair Witch worries discussed in greater detail here.

For being such a 'not much' thing to find, this sure helps us understand a LOT more about the movie.

Alas, we know who shoots the footage in the trailer.
We also know that Hud is effectively the 'narrator'. I wouldn't be surprised if he was slightly misled about how much of the total footage is his work, especially in light of the scene we saw shot in Central Park. Perhaps that was in fact the last 'scene' of the movie, and Hud's camera is with Rob and Beth, because Hud is dead already.
He says he's present for the entire duration of the film, but considering the apparent camera angle in that scene, he'd either be lying on the ground (odd) or laying there dead with the camera pointed at Rob and Beth.
The latter does paint a relatively funny image in my mind, but uh...

Yeah, it effectively confirms 2 things I had always believed, and shoots down 1 thing I had always believed:

1) Hud is, and always will be, the cameraman.
2) It will be shot entirely BW style, on jerky handcam.

But what I got wrong:

3) It's apparently *not* going to be shot from multiple POVs and/or cameras.

This movie now seems to be entirely shot in Hud-cam.

Which also reminds me of an interesting point about a set-spy report on IESB many months ago that detailed a kind of military triage center set up out in Downey, CA for the movie....featured hovering choppers and combat medics wheeling somebody on a gurney.

That seems to put things in a new light, and the Downey footage might wind up being the last scene in the movie: my guess is that Hud is wounded and being airlifted out of New York in that scene, and the army is then going to use his film footage to piece everything together.

So, semi-spoiler: I'd guess that Hud is the sole survivor.

it would make sense with all that stuff Miller said...the whole film in a handheld camera look, however I remember one of those set videos that were leaked on the net a few months back. it shows rob and a blond chick being trapped under a bridge with lots of shit falling apart and onto them. there was no handheld camera there.... could you really film everything from one point of view up til then and then go back to a more conventional camera mode?
