 		 [REFERENCE] The Story So Far
PLEASE READ PAGE 1 FIRST BEFORE POSTING.
Edit: 8/6- SpaceBass has opened the 1-18-08 wiki at Despoiler.org.

I'm not going to try to be preachy, condescending, hateful, or otherwise just plain mean. But please do read the following, and adhere. 1-18-08 has a total of 139 topics(counting this one), 65 of which are locked. 46.7% locked. This is happening for a reason. The Trailhead thread is 339 pages. There's no reason for this. I'm starting this thread to start that over.

1. If you are a guest, or new player, please read the Posting Guidelines thread first.

2. Before we begin, please go read the first post in the reference thread. I'll wait.

If a site is listed in here as IG, it's IG. Same goes for OOG. u4ik has worked hard to separate the two. Common mistakes- Ethan Haas is unrelated per JJ Abrams himself.

The monster is original. It is not Cthulhu, Godzilla, King Kong, Voltron, Behemoth, Leviathan, Ziz or any other movie we're anticipating or hoping for.

3. Post only if you have something genuinely new. To make sure this happens, please, please please use the Search button. It's at the top of every page. To keep from losing your place, open it in another browser with Internet Explorer(right-click, then click "Open In New Window") or another tab with Firefox(right-click, then click "Open Link In New Tab" or just middle click). Run your search using key words, i.e. "Cthulhu." Use the "Search For Keywords" box, and change the dropdown box to "ARG: 1-18-08 (Cloverfield)." Anything we have already discussed can be found this way.

4. There is a humor thread . Please post the funny stuff in here. If you're not adding to the conversation, you're cluttering it up for someone who may be looking for honest to God information. I'm guilty of this. Please don't let yourself be as well.

5. Verify your information. Reference is your best friend. If I tell you 2+2 is 5, you discredit me immediately. If I provide proof, it's harder to discredit. Show proof.

6. There's a good possibility we're overlooking something. Something buried somewhere in the monstrous(not a reference Smile) thread. Please post solid, proof evidence in this thread. Let's slowly build it. Speculate in the other threads, and if you find something, POST IT HERE. Speculate about slusho.jp in the slusho thread. The 1-18-08 site in that thread. The trailer in its thread. The monster in its thread. Post results here.

Ok.

There are 5 photos on 1-18-08.com. You can go there to view them, or see u4ik's ref thread to see them. The pictures can be rotated, stacked, unstacked, and flipped. 2 have writing on the back.

1. Posted 7/2 or 7/3, subject to debate, 7/3 being the night of the debut of the trailer. Theory is that the picture was posted 7/3 for that reason.
Shows two girls, believed to be Lily Ford and Marlena Diamond.(credit- uF member glove) The timestamp on the picture is 1/18/08 12:36A

2. Posted 7/6
Shows the going away party. Rob Hawkins is centered, surrounded by the other guests. JJ Hawkins, or "Hawk" as he calls himself on his Myspace, or as his brother refers to him, Jason, is seen holding a glass to Rob's lips. Also seen in the photo to the right hand side is a mysterious figure who almost looks CGI. The "number" on his/her shirt is considered to be debunked as lighting on the bricks on the wall behind the group. On the back is a note, "Don't forget who takes care of you! Love, J". This is credited to Rob's brother Jason. The timestamp on the picture is 1/18/08 12:01A

3. Posted 7/12
Over exposed, very white photo. 4 people are visible, but basically only their outlines. Presumed destruction in the background. It's been determined there is nothing to see in this picture, it just keeps the timeline moving. The timestamp on the picture is 1/18/08 12:48A.

4. Posted 7/20
Blurry picture, shows more destruction. In the foreground a uniformed member of the military can be seen, holding an assault rifle. This might be a key. Military response was quick, based off of the timestamp of 1-18-08 1:24A

5. Posted 7/26 or 7/27, subject to debate. JJ Abrams appeared at ComiCon in San Diego on the 26th. Reason would state the picture was revealed late that night, but there is no solid proof.
This picture shows(from L to R) Jamie Lascano, Hudson "Hud" Platt, and Rob Hawkins. The other other photo to this point with writing on the back, this one reads- in the top right corner- "Lascano, Platt, and Robbie, January 2008". The middle of the picture reads- "Robbie, Here, use this photo to send a message of my hotness far and wide!!! I'm gonna miss the hell out of ya!! Love, Jamie" The photo is timestamped 1-18-08 12:04A. Any speculation or information sought from these photos are in the [SPEC] TRAILER/PICS ANALYSIS thread, started by tinag222.

Picture 5 "broke the 'game' open." Using simple deduction, the myspace pages for 6 of the characters from the movie were found. The first was Jamie Lascano. Based off of the name Jamie and 2 possible last names, she wasn't hard to find. Using her myspace, and checking her friends, the following were found.

2 members of uF, MrToasty and HetMasteen started threads showing all 6 Myspace accounts. The threads merged as one. Since finding these pages, we have discovered that the characters(or at least someone masquerading as the characters) have been logging in and checking messages, comments, and friend requests. If you send the characters a message, please note that for the integrity of the game, they will probably not respond if you ask them questions about the movie. A logical thought posted by member jojo here is that perhaps the right questions will lead to the answers we seek. Just think logically!! Smile The [NEW]MySpace Accounts thread started by MrToasty contains all speculation and information about the MySpace pages themselves, and messages to and from the characters in the movie.

 		I keep reading the transcript of the comic con video and i cant find were he says the monster is original or not been done before or not Cthulhu, all he says is that its an american monster and not king kong. that leaves any american based creature open game right?

America has King Kong, that's our only MAJOR monster. JJ said that wouldn't be it. How else could it not be original? Ref thread, no spec. Sorry, but thanks.

OMG King Kong is NOT the only American monster LOL. I have watched like 10-20 different old monster movies set in america and only 2-3 were king kong. there have been giant lizards, robots, alien lizards, alien robots, even a giant woman. maybe you should look up more old monster films to get a idea of the scope of monster flicks.
