just for the record, the place where you get the clue of the bar.jpg is in the automated reply you get from the support. Look at the source code and down there you can see a little comment saying bar.jpg

Never noticed that before. Interesting...

Edit: Okay, so I think this whole time we've been right about the RGB color hypothesis. We just didn't know the right colors, until now.

Below are the HTML, RGB, and HSV (Hue, Saturation, Value) color codes for each of the colors in bar.jpg, from left to right:

HTML: #0E7210
RGB: 14, 114, 16
HSV: 121, 88, 45

HTML: #C46C2D
RGB: 196, 108, 45
HSV: 25, 77, 77

HTML: #A29F1C
RGB: 162, 159, 28
HSV: 59, 83, 64

HTML: #1B758F
RGB: 27, 117, 143
HSV: 193, 81, 56

HTML: #89159C
RGB: 137, 21, 156
HSV: 292, 87, 61

HTML: #C7203C
RGB: 199, 32, 60
HSV: 350, 84, 78

HTML: #241CC7
RGB: 36, 28, 199
HSV: 243, 86, 78

HTML: #448F64
RGB: 68, 143, 100
HSV: 146, 52, 56

HTML: #7F552F
RGB: 127, 85, 47
HSV: 28, 63, 50

HTML: #F18D01
RGB: 241, 141, 1
HSV: 35, 100, 95

HTML: #5A2881
RGB: 90, 40, 129
HSV: 274, 69, 51

HTML: #D6F408
RGB: 214, 244, 8
HSV: 68, 97, 96

HTML: #FA0084
RGB: 250, 0, 132
HSV: 328, 100, 98

Note: RGB and HSV color codes were determined using Gimp.

My current thought is that R+G-BHR*B-RdB/2+RaG-B-GjB-G is indeed an equation (though I'm not 100% on this). We know we have 13 symbols to the left and right of the "/" symbol, so I'm thinking we may have to do something like this:

For "R+G", we'd take the Red value of the first color in bar.jpg and add it to the Green value of the second color in bar.jpg. This results in 14+108=122. BHR, I'm guessing, would evaluate to the Blue value of the third color in bar.jpg, the Hue of the fourth, and the Red of the fifth. The d, a, and j, though, still give this idea troubles.... Anyway, that's what I'm thinking at the moment. I have to run to a class, but I'll take another look at this later tonight. Maybe someone can solve this by the time I get back. Smile

Not likely. Some of the characters are symbols, making it 9 characters on each side. Plus, d doesn't make sense with that approach.

I'm just too new in that thing (whole ARG thing to be honest), I just jumped in yesterday, but maybe there's something about it in that "Blokus" game.

Found this: http://www.blokus.com/

There's also a download link for the game, so I'm downloading it to give it a try.

Edit:

Nah, playing the game made no sense to me. But:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Just found a Facebook group called "Friends of Alex", which says "A gathering place for the mates of Alex Loyola", created by "Joseph Capablanca". Now, I think that's something (: Here's a link to the group page: http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=11322281422&ref=mf I also sent a message to that Capablanka guy.

Edit 2: Someone mentioned about "chess moves" earlier, and I googled a lil' bit about it and found a book called "chess fundementals by Capablanca, J.R.". I'm not sure if it may make sense tho. Here's a link to the book:

http://www.truly-free.org/e/n/Capablanca,%20J.%20R.%20-%20Chess%20Fundamentals.zip

He also added me to his friends list via Facebook (and also poked me :p), and his personal message says: "The predator lays dormant". Does it make any sense?

Dig a little deeper

Again, this may be a red herring, but the clue from Codemonkey invited us to "dig a little deeper" - I thought, in relation to the post I made earlier about the Blu-Ray code, the website in question which had multiple and repeated postings of that Blu-Ray code was indeed.. Digg.

Apologies

For multiple postings however I have been digging (rather than Digging)

In the google search bar on the copy of firefox in the screencap is "C++h"

Seems about as obviously placed as the testUser entry.

My first thought on seeing "c++ h" is "c++ hax0r," which is a common enough saying.

The code is important, cuz that's where it's at.
A kl00 hidden in there, for all friends to see.
A very small snippet that just shouldn't be.

The "kl00" in the above message in conjunction with the "c++ h" has tipped me towards looking at our code as leet speak. Almost every symbol can be translated:

R+G-BHR*B-RdB/2+RaG-B-GjB-G
=
2T6-8H2X8-2d8RT246-8-6j8-6

Where R=2, +=T, G=6, B=8, *=X, /2=R, and a=4 (Wikipedia has a nice table here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leet#Orthography). But once again, the idea doesn't quite work. Returning to Digg and Caudillo's comment, perhaps the HD-DVD processing key is relevant somehow?

Going on a tangent, "Kl00" happens to be related to the Rosamond Skypark airport in Rosamond, California. There is also a Rosamond in Georgia, which isn't terribly far from Highway 16 where Alex's body was found.

EDIT: Caudillo actually made the below observation before me, guess I missed his original post: http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=498937#498937

Scratch my above thought. I think I'm on to something better here...

I was reading up on the HD-DVD processing key at Wikipedia, and I followed a link concerning the controversy of the whole thing. As I was browsing the controversy article, I came across an interesting image:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Free-speech-flag.svg

The Free Speech Flag is the RGB encryption of the HD-DVD key, where each column of color is formed by three bytes of the key. For example, the first three bytes of the HD-DVD key are 09, F9, and 11, which when converted to decimal yields 9, 249, and 17. The color created by RGB(9, 249, 17) is the first green column of the flag.

This gave me two ideas. The first was to reverse the above process on the bar.jpg image we found the other day, converting the resulting hexadecimal into ascii for a possible message. HTML uses hexadecimal to represent colors, so fortunately everything was already converted (see Nighthawk's post: http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=499139#499139). But, converting the color codes to ascii did not reveal anything, from what I could tell.

My second idea was to apply the Free Speech Flag technique on the original code to produce a flag of my own. Here's the process I followed:

Convert R+G-BHR*B-RdB/2+RaG-B-GjB-G to decimal:
82, 43, 71, 45, 66, 72, 82, 42, 66, 45, 82, 100, 66, 47, 50, 43, 82, 97, 71, 45, 66, 45, 71, 106, 66, 45, 71

Group the decimal into sets of three's to form RGB color codes:
(82, 43, 71); (45, 66, 72); ... etc.

This process produced the "flag" attached below. For some reason, this feels close, to something....

chinga, will you truncate the code Capablanca sent you so that the forums don't stretch? I don't know if that happens for anyone else, but my browser won't cut off long lines like that, which ends up elongating everything else in the thread. Thanks!

Edit: Ahh, much better. Smile

Done, thank you (: Btw, I've sent him another message in binary, asking him about "they".

I'm on Facebook as well (I'm the white rabbit). How did you get him to talk to you?
