Six hours later... I have read 22 pages of this thread... This is my first real attempt at an ARG. I started playing another somewhere around a year ago but, I wasnt lucky enough to catch it at the beginning and it moved so fast it was hard to keep up. Since this is a slower moving game im really excited.
I have sent my info to songwraith. I dont know how long it will take for a reply since he has been inactive for a while now.
I am a history major and I happen to be extremely interested in pirates and freemasons. Im sure everyone knows of the Whydah now and that its captain was Sam Bellamy, a famous pirate. Nothing I could tell you right now relates to the story so I'll leave it out.
My brain hurts.

I don't know Psysop. It doesn't sound like the same melody to me, but you're definitely on the right track with the speakeasy genre.
EDIT: The link I posted to lyrics is definitely not the same song but I threw it out there because it mentions Vancouver, souls and some other stuff. I still think the song (audio) is the same though. If its not, the title (and to my ears the toon) is a very strange cooincidence indeed. - I've seen stranger cooincidences in Args though so...

Just to throw out another idea that occurred to me about the ships: What if the ships aren't meant to point us to any specific ship wrecks? The only thing most of the images we have in common is the time period they all seem to belong to. That time period (Boston-area colonial) also fits with several other themes seen in pictures and the page that was recovered.
I mostly mention this because we shifted time period with no full explanation of the ship and only very cryptic messages from Songwraith on the issue.
If nothing else it's one more perspective on our info to think about as we get more from the videos and research.

17 more pages... Im so tired of reading.
Ive been taking a look at the only map weve got and trying to find shipwrecks off the coast but the search isnt coming up so well.
I also took a look at alll the red x's and realized that they are all close to a major city except for the one in the far north-west. It is close to Vancouver but it is actually in the middle of Vancouver Island.

Sorry to hit you with more reading, potter, but hope it was worthwhile. This wiki page might help: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Shipwrecks_of_the_United_States I've checked out some but not all of these wrecks. I took a close enough look to determine that we probably could match them up with the Os on the map.

whats next? That wiki is definitely a great resource tresbien. I have come to terms with the fact that I'm just getting ahead of myself with the map. There isnt nearly enough info to pick a single one of those wrecks right now.
I would love to see a new video here soon.
As far as a wiki goes I dont believe there is one at the moment but it really wouldnt be a bad idea to get some stuff organized. I really dont know where to go from here. I am a little new to this and im not sure how to handle that kind of stuff or what the "standard" is, but a resource like that would definitely help me figure out what to do next. I hope I'm not the only one that thinks so.
Plus it would really be nice to get a few more active minds on this. Instead of people being intimidated by the 40 pages of the related threads. I still cant beleive I made it through without giving up. Not many people will be able to devote a few hours to read.
I dont know I'm just rambling now...goodnight.

At the rate this is moving, one could read a few pages a day and catch up in no time. I'm sure if you'd like to make a wiki, thebruce would set one up for you.
Welcome to Zslasher and glad to see you here APD.

wiki I agree tresbien. Things are moving much slower than I first thought.
If someone did set up a wiki though I would be glad to help. I seem to have much more time on my hands these days. Im not really sure why though. Im probably forgetting about something important I should be doing. Oops. Oh well...

Hey, I'm another newbie around here.
Just finished reading through the thread and watching the movies, just want to mention a few things that I think have been missed (or at least haven't been said).
Firstly, in 'who wants to live forever' the sound effects going with the player descriptions have been incompletely listed (by the other Tarq from Australia, funnily enough). But I hear more.
Founder - A kind of a moan sound; ties in with 'man of eternal sorrow'
Hanged Bride - A screech followed by a sudden noise (perhaps a rope pulling taut, or an axe hitting a wooden block); seems to imply something demonic maybe, the witch, followed by the sound of her execution.
The Pride - Sound of baby giggling followed by scraping blades; seems straightforward.
The Jurors - Sound of a clock ticking (about the point he says 'innocence'); reinforcing the time theme I s'pose?
Prison City/Possessive Woman - I can faintly make out a low pitched sound in the background here, anyone else here it?
Also there is the sound of a heartbeat in the background throughout the whole clip. Plus another recurring sound that I can't identify. Sort of like a far off muffled scream maybe... sort of. Is there some way to analyse the sound beyond listening to it over and over with headphones?
The sounds seem to be sounds of the players, or at least sounds describing them.
The fact that for the first three the sound begins as the name is given, followed by silence during the description, seems to reinforce the idea that the description is of the name. ie. The Founder is The Man of Eternal Sorrow.
The Jurors are an oddity then, because the tick sound only comes at the end of the description.
The low sound I hear in the background runs right through the Prison City and Possessive Woman parts. Does this imply that the possesive woman is the prison city? A personification of it? Is prison city the town she is dressed as?
Secondly, there seems to be a recurring theme of pictures within pictures. First in 'who wants to live forever' there are the faces in the skulls eye sockets. Then in 'hearts vs heads' there is a picture of a woman outlined on a formation in the clouds. And the silhouette of a bird of some kind made from an icicle formation(?).
And now we have the womans face appearing in the prohibition picture.
Is this trend a clue? Or am I reading too much into it?
<Sigh> Now off to start reading the old thread.

Welcome TarqUn. Many people use the free Audacity program for manipulating sound files -- it's definitely worth trying if you think you can extract more from the audio than we've heard. Not sure if this is what you mean, but I hear rain/water dripping as the other continuing background sound in who wants to live forever.
Your point about the clues showing things being hidden or things not being as they first appear is well taken. To me that goes along with the overarching theme of the game being a cover up and the long-hidden secrets the Founder speaks about.
As to "...the prison city, a possessive woman dressed as the town" the only interpretation so far that works for me is that the city itself is enticing, doesn't want people to leave, and holds them there, figuratively speaking.

I really like this interpretation. I just had it in my mind that there had to be another woman. A queen or just a powerful person in the town. Somoneone who spoke for the town, but this makes much more sense.
