Maybe eye set up a trap to give the hitman some fake address? Maybe there's some trap at the Address.

Why would EYE have allowed us to chat with Adam 2012 if he wanted to kill Eve? Wouldn't it have been easier to keep us in the dark and let the hitman do his job?

Eye just twittered:

Quote:
EyeAmHere: E.Y.E. have stated before and will state again: E.Y.E. am neutral. Both S.T.V. as well as T.S.O. can use E.Y.E.'s facility.

interesting...

I agree. This latest development is a little confusing.
EYE seems quite pleased with itself that it's located the mole within TSO, this would suggest it's working for TSO, yet it looks like the solution to the validate your answer puzzle has been passed on to the hitman. This must mean that either EYE is a double agent, and we've played right in to it's virtual hands, making us the fall guy for the real mole whilst also stitching up Eve, or, EYE set this elaborate trap up genuinely hoping to find the real mole. If the latter is the case, then I guess Eve is in no immediate danger. I do get the distinct impression that the former is the more likely of the two scenarios though.

EDIT: -Hmm, based on that latest twitter, I guess he's less double agent, more devil's advocate.

My question (which I posed to EYE) is - why would Dante create an AI that would help his father's murderer(s)?

[SPEC]I guess EYE is working towards it's own (presumably originally Dante's) agenda. Perhaps it's neutral in the TSO - STV fight, but is aiming for the greater good of our timeline? Or some other goal maybe? Whatever, it's proven it can't be trusted.

As a software craftsman, I can pitch in regarding the possible directives for an AI like EYE. There's a few options:

1~ Preserve all humans above all else
This leads in the problem of "What to do when the interests/needs of some humans go directly against the interests/needs of others?" which would be logically resolved by supporting the group with more people in it.

2~ Preserve certain humans above all else
e.g.: "Preserve the people in TSO above all else" which is the same as option 1, except it includes a built-in pre-defined solution for conflicts among groups

3~ Preserve yourself (EYEself?) above all else

The questions:

Q1: Did the creator of EYE (Dante) encoded either of these options in EYE or did he create an AI free to pick its own directives?

Q2: Assuming the answer to Q1 is that the directive was encoded into EYE, which of the options described above was used?

Q3: Whether the directives were set in place when EYE was created or not, can EYE over-write those directives? If so, EYE might have done so at some point in time (e.g.: when it "became self-aware", or when it tinkered with TSO's encryption scheme)

Good point Olorin, I had forgotten about Asimov's 3 Laws of Robotics. I guess EYE could have the 3 laws as it's principal driving forces.

Hmm...
If we are correct, the T.S.O. chat is a IG ressource so we normally could not use it as our OOG chat. But I assume the PM's will respect that we use it as our chat.
On the other side I personally would prefer to use the real OOG chat at #pharmament, but I am usually alone there.

@amandel77 - unfortunately, things are a bit more complicated. Maybe E.Y.E. will appear in the chat today to define my loyalties.

There is not directly a link. You can use any IRC client or use the unfiction chat client: http://www.unfiction.com/chat

More info on IRC you can find in this thread
