Alpha protocol?

Well, im guessing this whole thing relates to the up coming alpha protocol game,
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
"After a failed mission, Agent Michael Thorton is cut off from all of his contacts and betrayed by his superiors and is being hunted by the United States government. In response, Michael uses the "Alpha Protocol", though it is normally reserved for more senior agents, and begins to operate undercover, to uncover the conspiracy"
Sounds like what this things dealing with right? with the cordinates of major us buildings.
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Alpha Protocol is an upcoming third-person action role-playing game, developed by Obsidian Entertainment and published by Sega. The game revolves around the adventures of rookie CIA field agent Michael Thorton. The game was originally set to be released on October 27, 2009, but the release has since been pushed back to May 27 (Australia), May 28 (Europe) and June 1 (NA) of 2010.

Obviously you missed the whole part where we (read nighthawk) caught Activision with their pants down.

In other words, we know it's an Activision game.

Yeah, to be more specific though; wasn't that when originally if you checked the IP of gknova6.com there were a few other Activision related sites hosted there as well? I remember seeing that too, how quickly did they get that changed?

Based on Nighthawk's posts it took about 3 2 days to change it.

SQUEEE- *cough!*

Sorry about that. Carry on.

Bah who needs to cite sources, it's not like people will come along later and say hey look what i found you should have read this...ok fine, my bad nighthawk

Degravedi:

1.) Yes I realize this was my weakest point.
2.) "CoD 7" also takes place in vietnam which we have seen 0 references to.
3.) Probably the strongest argument for a CoD arg, but let me offer this as a counterpoint:

Did you completely forget to read something before you responded to it? I refer you to point #5. By the way, CoD fans were not the only ones to receive the flash drive. And I would like to point out for the record that I did not call anyone treyarch-loving or a bastard. I don't know you that well.

And I would like to thank the PM's for leaving us something to argue about while we wait for transmission 4. And I hope I have a PC capable of playing this game when it comes out, whatever it is.

I too received one of these mysterious USB drives but mine included a note.

Shocked Mother of god, that better just be a joke.

I DO

And let me officially say, once and for all, that T_T and the CoDz forum people are all Treyarch-loving bastards.

Seriously though, I think there's enough compelling evidence for either side. But the simple fact remains that Infinity Ward >>>>>>>>>> Treyarch.

Who got the drives?

[lurk mode = off]

I've been following the discussion closely regarding these mysterious USB drives. I've goofed around with some of the clues but never came up with anything. I've enjoyed watching these clues become deciphered.

The one main thing that remains undiscovered is what this ARG is promoting.

I have seen numerous posts saying that these drives were predominantly sent to COD fanboys/prominent gamers. Has anyone actually documented who they were sent to? It would be nice to see a list of all of the recipients. Not a detailed list with personal information, but a list that showed each recipients relation to the gaming industry. It may also be interesting to see if there is a pattern in the geographic distribution of the drive mailings. Did everyone receive them on the same day? How many drives were sent out in total?

Been following the thread here for a couple weeks now.

First let me say that I have enjoyed seeing the collaborative effort being put into this campaign.

I actually just registered to answer the above question. Aside from myself, I believe about five others in the CoD community with ties to Treyarch received the initial package containing the USB drive. Aside from us, a few major gaming sites (i.e. Kotaku, Joystiq, etc.) as well as Times received the package.

Although we cannot provide you with actual solid evidence linking this to Treyarch and CoD7, I can say with 100% certainty that this viral marketing campaign is in fact being brought to us by Treyarch and most definitely is in regards to CoD7.

Once again, it's been great watching the unfiction crew here work, and I'll continue to visit to see what you guys/gals are up to.

Hope to see you on the battlefields!

EDIT - removed bold - MikeyJ

Well, this went out to alot of places internationally as well. Several countries are going through the same thing we are but the initial mailer had a few differences; instead of Richard Wright stamps some of the international envelopes had different stamps and so on. It might be a little difficult to find out who all received them in Russia and what not.....

ETA - didn't mention the tones in the earlier post, definitely could be a code there.

ETA2 - looking at the 'whole spectrum' of the audio, this popped out (see attached).

ETA3 - And now for the big 'duh' moment - finally figured out where sputnik came from when analyzing the audio from last time (see second attachment).

ETA4 - As for the numbers read off, I get two groups:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
10 21 26 1 26 19
25 16 22 2 20 1 21 23 16 26 22 19 3

@Mrtoasty what program is this that finds spectrum hides like this?

A lot of us use Sonic Visualizer.

Some say it is and it looks like it is supposed to be, but to me the blips aren't consistent or distinct enough to discern dots and dashes.
