The teaser trailer has a number of lighted number displays that may or may not be important.

The one that is seen the most reads 2010:03:2
There are a few others that are less readable included in the screens below. And a flash of a moon rover on one of the consoles.

On a personal note, I really like the inclusion of the SR-71 Blackbird. <3

Considering that anyone can edit Wikipedia at their discretion, the fact that it's mentioned there means noting. Where's the citation from? Has a news venue officially confirmed it?

Even if I'm the last one that is, I will remain skeptical until there is concrete proof. Unless the upcoming COD is going a completely different direction to their past work and playing the "sci fi" card, it still doesn't seem a fit.

And, if you want, I could create a letter signed by Nixon where the capital letters read "TWILIGHT"... Wink

I wanted to remain skeptical, too. As much as I hate it, this ARG is definitely from Treyarch.

Let me prove it to you:

http://groups.google.com/group/alt.conspiracy.black.helicopters/browse_thread/thread/59ed9da98ab62fdf#
http://groups.google.com/group/alt.conspiracy.jfk/browse_thread/thread/45a9b34f23cca8d6#
http://groups.google.com/group/alt.conspiracy.cabal/browse_thread/thread/970603f12af93a45#
http://groups.google.com/group/alt.conspiracy.spy/browse_thread/thread/cef2b4d7c6fbda23#

These are the four posts which X O posted. Look at the timestamps. These four posts were all posted on April 30, from 4:45 pm to 4:47 pm.

Now look at the post from Nova Six in the ATTENTION NOVA TRUTHSEEKERS thread.

http://groups.google.com/group/alt.conspiracy/msg/5d703e5ce141cdff

It was posted two hours later than the posts from X O. Therefore, these posts cannot be from a troll who wanted to fuck with us, the players, after the Nova Six message had been posted.

Furthermore, the X O posts all contained:

An interesting Conspiracy, one the world would not soon forget, had they ever known.

So did the Nova Six post.

Thus, there are two possible conclusions:
  1. X O is a psychic who can predict the messages in posts that haven't been posted yet.
  2. X O is related to Nova Six, and, by extension, part of GKNOVA6.
Finally, the four X O posts each contained different parts of the same passworded .rar archive. Contained inside it was a PDF. The first letters of each sentence spelled out TREYARCH.

This is most certainly for Call of Duty: Black Ops.

It wouldn't be a "completely different direction." In Treyarch's last game, World at War, there was a very popular game mode called Nazi Zombies. Zombies are what I would call science fiction.

That is clearly a different genre of science fiction.

I think what Nighthawk meant was futuristic science fiction.

And also, it would be stupid to make an ARG solely about one relatively insignificant portion of a high-profile game.

I'll continue to play devil's advocate and resident skeptic. Someone has to, right? Twisted Evil

You missed the point of my last message... I'm not saying that X O is a psychic. I'm also not saying this is a "gamejack", because what game would they be "gamejacking"? Their own?

What I tried to express with the last line of my previous post is that just because it sounds like a duck doesn't mean it is one. If it *spells* "Treyarch" it doesn't mean it *is* Treyarch.

(Why do I feel I'm gonna be making a name for myself in the COD community with that statement... Bah, it's not like I haven't done that before!)

But, granted, I'll give you about a 95% chance at this point. Razz

ETA: I have attempted to contact people I know at Raven Software. If they deny it, fine then. If they don't, it could mean anything.

Based on frequencies of the first letters of a word in the English language, the chance that T, R, E, Y, A, R, C, and H would pop up in an 8-word sample is: 0.000000000434784924%

Actually, far less than that because that's the chance that the letters will pop up in any order.

So it's more like a 99.999999999565215076% chance that I'm right.

Shoot. Now I think it's exactly that chance, and not far less.

What else would it be?

Raven Software playing a prank?

Wait. I think I understand you now.

You're saying that "Treyarch" is a clue, right?

Or possibly a red herring. Some PMs can have a notoriously strange sense of humor. They could easily have been watching the boards and known just what to do to stir up the members.

If it is still for COD, I just can't figure out what tie it they may be going for after the release of that teaser. I mean, the time frame is right, but when I went through the video frame by frame to see the flashes slower, most of the footage took place in Vietnam and another tropical location (Cuba maybe?). There were only a few frames that had the characters trudging through a snowy forest that may or may not have been Russian.

Well, I'll remain skeptical simply 'cause I'd like this arg to be marketing for ........something else. Even if I've seen evidence to the contrary!
Don't get me wrong, I play the crap outta some Call of Duty games but an arg for a COD game? It just doesn't compute for me, I'd never think of a connection between alternate reality games and an FPS that has independent story lines with every title. That's just me though....
