 		Seems to me that Mysterioso is saying that Josh's dad was a Biospeleologist by trade when he was 'plucked' from that to work on a secret government project where they found some sort of alternative energy source.. possibly alien, and possibly what went out of control when the train carrying stuff from area 51 derailed..
Looks like Mr Minker may have taken the cylinder with the discovery inside it and absconded with it... seems like he has been in hiding since.
The only thing I can find regarding d12 entry is a port on the PDP-11 that is an I/O access point for 4 bit info.

When we think alien, we think new and not originating from earth. So I guess this will depend on your view of what came first.. the chicken.. or the bioengineered egg that predates human history =)

OOOH! What if the same stuff that seeded earth to make life (I don't actually believe in this theory, but for story's sake Wink ), also got dropped into a huge cave, where life developed in a different way, feeding off the "alternate energy source"!! So maybe it's an alien that originated on earth!! That would be pretty awesome!

I was thinking something similar to this when looking around online for clues... maybe something related to a cave fish (seeing how this game is so fish themed) There are TROGLobite fish like the Mexican Tetra (blind cavefish) and some others... Maybe there was some kind of new discovery there or something...

It is not hard to believe that something can go undiscovered in a cave for long periods of time. Many caves are not even discovered until a sink hole opens up after a large storm event. I have been in such a cave, and many discoveries are made, such as bones from the Pleistocene.

I am guessing that the foreign matter is some form of extra terrestrial DNA that made its way into a cave after an impact event. Whatever was in that train was not human, so I am guessing that the DNA was used to create something other than energy.


I like the way you think. This gives the movie some body, as opposed to watching a remake of the blob or something like that.

The bacteria is alien to us - but it exist on earth.
Anyway Mysterio used word "foreign" that could also mean something like unknow civilization leaving in caves.

That would even makes sense since if something is leaving underground it must have find new ways of producing energy

i think the sentence means, that who ever robbed josh, aren't the same people who are after josh's dad. So there may be two sets of bad guys ?

 		Perhaps there are really various groups after various targets.
I just ask myself, why "you wouldn't still be around to speak to me"?

Is it the same as: "If they were who I fear is after your father, they would get/kill you"? This would mean, these guys (the Dad-Hunters) don't know, where Joshs Dad is and mistakenly suppose, Josh does know?

 		D12--- tape drive?
I was thinking about the "commit to tape drive" option on STIES, and found that there was a model of IBM tape drive that was a D-12

3494-D12 - IBM Magstar Tape Library Model D12

Just wondering if this might be related to the D12 entry, since we have yet to use that capability on STIES...

I like the IBM drive idea, makes sense. But I've been thinking about the angle with the speleologist. What if like amny sci-fi's in the past, the source is a lost cavern or lost world. Maybe even a UFO that had crashed so long ago that all that's left is or was the power source. Like the recently found caves with large crystal formations. Journey to the center of the earth meets godzilla.

While watchinf Fringe it dawned on me where JJ's mind may be. The book about people before. The theory that a complete set of beings could had occupied the earth long before we homo erectus came to be. What if this is using that theory?
