[Spec] Was Jessica even real?

What if Jessica was just a hallucination/construct by Slendy to try and trap J? I mean, that might explain why his camera camera went all distoriony when she was around since this would essentially mean that Jess was an aspect of Slendy.

Also, it might explain where she went too.

I've always been in love with this idea, but most people seem to follow the "they met during the seven month break" idea, which is fair enough (and probably more likely too... Sad )

I hate to say it, because this theory sounds nice, but she did pick one of Jay's grocery bags. Hallucinations don't typically do that..

Unless she was a glamored someone. I still don't subscribe to this theory though.

we saw her on camera, that, by definition, negates the possibility of a hallucination. I think it's more likely she just got scared and ran

this theory is nice

but, as the person above me stated, we saw her on camera...a hallucination wouldn't be seen by us on the camera, it would only be seen by J.

Why did this need its own thread?

Is J even real? Is anything even real? Am I real? lol i could go on for a while.

but on topic, I think she was real. immediately I see the problem of things reacting to her touch. A hallucination or anything really wouldn't do that. Noe this could lead into "well what If she's not lucid" or "what if she's being controlled" those however would be different theories so I'm gunna stick to a hallucination or more specifically an operator induced illusion. Well we've seen, like in entry 17, that he does have the power to make illusions, (in 17 he doesn't let anyone see him.) although the camera does pick it up which may mean that he can't control cameras although we do not know for sure how far his power goes.

In short yeah, the operator so ambiguous that he very well may be able to do that, but at the moment most signs point to no.

Hmm, there really is no escape from reality for Jay.

Maybe he's trapped in a Bohemian Rhapsody.

The recurring theme with illusions seems to be that they don't fool cameras. Cases in point:

0. The visual tear seems to occur whenever the Operator arrives in the location. It doesn't seem to happen when he's already there.

1. Entry #5. We never see anything of the Operator, but the camera seems to pick up his presence (and the distortion gets worse whenever something connected to fire or water is mentioned).

2. Entry #12. The entire cast sees the Operator standing and watching them while on set. None of them seem to notice that he's 12 feet tall and doesn't have a face, but the recording clearly shows this.

3. Entry #17. Nobody notices that the Operator is clearly visible outside the window, but the camera shows him, and reacts when he's provoked (possibly by Tim drinking the water).

There's a couple of other possible examples, particularly in Entry #2, where Alex says he saw a "really tall guy", but doesn't seem to have noticed anything unusual about him beyond his effect on the dog.

The camera shows Jessica at all times, with only incidental distortion at key points when she speaks or does certain things, which is more likely to be related to the proximity of/ the disturbance of the Operator. Based on this, it's highly unlikely she's an illusion.

She's actually CGI, just dont really well. In scenes where she interacts with objects (groceries, doors, phones) they use a muppet-like model and touch it up in post.

Edit: Really its just a testament to how much the guys have improved and the level of care and effort put in, compared to entry #18 and #23, when the part of Jessica was clearly just a small white doll
