 		how do i get a pic to the left of my post?
and are there any rules to this forum: cursing, posting of topic, etc.
and whats the best way to become a mod

That's an avatar. Click on the "Profile" link in the top right-hand corner of your page. Scroll down to the bottom. You will see the Avatar control panel, where you can enter a link to a small graphic file for your avatar.

Cursing is frowned upon, and the mods may edit it out of existence. Feel free to use the Cursing emoticon instead.

Know the guidelines backwards and forwards. Devote a truly obscene amount of time to making this forum pleasant for everyone else. Demonstrate responsibility, trustworthiness, courtesy, respect, and a true "above and beyond the call of duty" mentality.

Of course you read the TOS when you signed up. That would've cleared up most things.
