I found something last night while browsing through the Hilbert's Hotel - Babel guest register. I posted it to our wiki: http://deaddrop.us/wiki/index.php/PT.com:_Flash_Books

Compare the following two images; Jon's writing on the wall above his desk and the long entry in the Hilbert's book, "Initially, I found...Many thanks again."

When you specifically look at certain letters, they strongly indicate the handwriting is the same (most notably if you look at the following letters; "b, e, h, k, or y"). IS IT JON'S WRITING??

This would suggest that Jon visited Hilbert's (which perfectly explains the missing book) and gives us an excellent clue... IBIDEM (meaning "in the same place"... thanks to Slithy). What is "in the same place??"


ALSO, look at the both the letter Brigid sent out on Dec. 2 (I think) and the quote from her somewhere else in this forum. Notice that she put an "x" after her name both times. People tend to develop odd habits like that (I always circle my initials whenever I use them). There is an entry into the book at Gray's Lodge that may match, "Wholly refreshing. Thanks for having me. X". If it is in fact Brigid, this means she has written a contract with S&S herself.

Given the IBIDEM entry in the guestbook mentions everything being 'noted down in my journal', perhaps the book in the safe is his journal? In any case, I think Jon's journal would be a useful item to have.

Something I find curious...

All of the names used so far have some meaning, even the seemingly obsure Frances Griffiths who was one of the witnesses to the Man in Black sighting.

Inside the Gray's Lodge book at Devil's Lake there is a page that starts off with, "Mina and I..." Mina Harker was Jonathan Harker's wife (in Bram Stoker's "Dracula").

How is this important? I have no idea, though everything seems to be done with reason. Here's an idea...

If Jon really does have a missing journal, could this somehow be a clue? Maybe Mina's name is used to make us think more about "Dracula". Although I have never read it, I know there are many references to Jonathan and Mina Harker's journals. Could there be something in the story that could provide a clue on the the whereabouts of Jon's journal?

Maybe someone more familiar with the story has some better ideas. Or, I could just be grasping at straws here.

If it is infact a clue, then I think the "i was hoping to BOOK FROM HOME next time" might just be another clue for 'look in the books at home' which is where we are all sitting in the hiding room at the moment...

otherwise it might mean something completely different.

Of course Stella would have to have some line on alcohol use/misuse thrown in somewhere.

In relation to SuperJems assertion that the pages are randomly generated I don't think this is quite true (I'm not much into decompiling swf files but hey heres my 2c worth ). The location of the messages within each guestbook may change but I'm sure the same twenty messages are displayed in each book each time . I've cleaned my cache etc to check this and it holds true the few times I've done it.

I think there may be linkages between some of the guestbooks but this is only speculation. Two of the books contain the rot-12 red herring messages and include no other 'useful information'. Two of the books contain the same four messages whilst the other three contain either none or only one of the four messages.

The 'shape' of a lot of the messages in the books seemed forced but I cannot put my finger onthat yet except to say that in Asgard the 'I came here in search of a man.. message resembles the number matrix 'A....T...' elsewhere in that book.

A question I haven't been able to solve yet is in Babel:

'I am very Glad to have come here in the PM'

Is it telling us to look at the capital letters in the rest of the entries? or is there something else? In Game PuppetMaster?

As far as I'm concerned, that message with the interesting sentence breaks, full stops, and capital letters is just a BIG hint to tell us to look closely at the other entries in the guestbook and Remark at the Initial Letters in the Sentences. Couple of other clues to this in the guestbook too. I especially like "Whereof one cannot speak, thereof one must be silent."

However, I haven't found any 'useful' information in any of the other books, though the numer matrix does hold possibilities

OK, so perhaps I may have figured one thing out - the anagram:

I realized that I could almost make the word 'Purgatory', except for the missing 'y', so then I attempted the following:

PURGATOR PONM
PURGAT PRONOM
PURGAR PONTOM
PURGA PRONTOM!!
PURGAM PRONTO!!!! - I believe this is Portugese - when I ran it through the Babelfish translator it said that this means "They purge soon." Am I crazy? Is this what they were intending? Am I at least close?

Does it help me in any way so far? No. I tried it in the mezzanine door and the contract - to no avail. I'd love to hear other thoughts.
