the key looks very familiar but can't place it right now... where did you get the image from?

To me the key seems to be of the same design as some of the symbols found in dolmans. The Key is at the Hollow Needle, in the newsletter.

SPEC: Trees in AGP cemetery

I posted about trees in the cemetery here and have since found out a bit more about Stull Cemetery...one of the seven gateways of hell was meant to be a pine tree in the cemetery. (See end of this page)

I'm still trying to chase up my hunch about the tree coloured red in the picture on the AGP website; but I think the trees labelled in Diana's Grove Easter Egg Hunt is significant in some way, and when I came across the above website I thought it could somehow tie in the tree theme we've been coming across so much.

Any thoughts anyone?

Well. it appears that our friend Brent Bowers (webmaster of the Ash Grove Amusement Park) and his wife were indeed layed to rest in the Ash Grove Park Cemetery. According to the internment list posted earlier today:

5 Bowers, B ., b. 1814, d. 1869, w/o Brent Bowers
6 Bowers, Brent , b. 1812, d. 1879, h/o B. Bowers

RIP

Garden of Pairs

here's an interesting side note to the "garden of pears" which is mentioned on http://www.ashgrovepark.com/layout.html

Quote:
The garden is divided into two halves - though there may be more to this garden than we have seen to date. One half is populated entirely with couples, the other with lone individuals. The reason for this is that human souls are mostly created in pairs - male and female (twin souls); but these pairs do not always reincarnate into the same life-period.
It is often the case that one will be alive while the other is not and so he or she must wait in the Garden of Singles.
The Garden of Pairs is where the two meet up again. Whether or not Apollo is the coordinator of this process we cannot yet say for certain, but on every encounter with him this garden is part of the experience.

The nine who exist here and beyond

trying to research more on the "nine" from the decoded AGP message
Quote:
The path between worlds
Lies in the power of belief
The nine who exist here and beyond
With them in hand the way revealed

here's an interesting essay on the number nine in myth, specifically relating to yggdrasil, runes, locks, and other neat stuff we've come across already:
http://www.indigogroup.co.uk/edge/9sisters.htm

salient points:

  • nine "skerry-brides" who power the world mill
  • nine hazels grew above the inspirational Well of Segais, whence sprang the seven chief rivers of Ireland
  • The Norse god Heimdallr is said in the poem Voeluspa hin skamma to be the son of nine giant-women 'at the edge of the earth'
  • nine worlds in the yggdrasil world-tree
  • the Yakut shaman uses a tree with nine notched steps to facilitate his celestial journeys
  • the nine maidens whose combined breath heats the cauldron of the Head of Annwfn in Caer Sidi, the rotating island-fortress of the poem Preiddeu Annwfn
  • the nine sisters who rule the Fortunate Isles
  • The Old English Nine Herbs Charm says that 'Woden took nine glory-twigs and struck the adder so that it flew into nine parts'
  • The cognate Scandinavian god Odin, of course, hung upon the World Tree for nine nights to acquire knowledge of the runes, according to the poem Havamal
  • the nine vidhi of Voeluspa
  • In Greek myth, the Lernaean Hydra, a serpentine beast with nine heads (but sometimes eight, or even fifty or more), lived beneath a tree that stood at the 'sevenfold source' of the river Amymone
  • for the Chinese: the nine celestial 'Palaces' and the ninefold land division of feng shui.
  • ninefold underworld of the Maya of Central America
  • Odin's golden ring Draupnir, from which dripped eight more identical rings every ninth night
  • the nine months of pregnancy - actually the nine periods, analogous to lunar cycles, when an adult woman's menstrual cycle does not take place. The ninth bloodless moon brings fruition, childbirth
  • the nine maidens whose breath heats the cauldron in Caer Sidi, which is cognate with the cauldron of rebirth that occurs elsewhere in Celtic tradition
  • The nine black-clad disir or fylgjur, and the same number dressed in white, of the Icelandic Flateyjarbok and Brennu-Njals saga, women who represent the luck and well-being of a family, as well as promoting the fertility of its female members

tons of spec fodder...

Info about trees if anyone besides me is interested!

Asked my brother, who's a tree surgeon, about possibilities of which type of tree it could be which was coloured red in the picture on the AGP homepage.

He said it's most likely to be an oak; a few other possibilities such as maple as he's just going by the shape, but that's what he'd go for. He didn't think it was an ash, hawthorn, or pine at all.

I had thought there might be something related in the Stull Cemetery story about a pine tree being one of the 7 Gates of Hell so they cut it down...but as I suspected from the look of the tree in the picture, he said

Quote:
...looks mostly like another Oak, though it could be a Zelkova
or Elm (looks like it's in the USA, so no idea what they plant in
cemetries). Doubt it's a Pine of any sort (too many burs on trunk and
branches), you can also just see some leafy branches on the left main
branch which would be unusual for a Pine that far into a main branch....

So the Stull pine tree was not a pine... another good ghost story ruined! Sad

Right, I'll shut up about trees now. Promise.

Another 9 connection: In Hinduism, the 9 planets are worshipped as "navagrahas" and are the basis for Vedic astrology. A nice, simple explanation can be found here.

For a brief, exciting moment, I thought I could connect this to the disk that Wes found, but that has 8 symbols, not 9. Confused

Six fingers at AGP

Quote:
#84 Seisdedos, Mary Lillian, b. Dec 8, 1798, d. May 6, 1874, w/o Roberto Seisdedos, d/o William Kendrick & Mary Elizabeth Higdon Goldsberry

Seis dedos means "six fingers." (Thanks, folks at CD. They noticed this, not me.)

Remember that Digitalis is part of the ghostly theme park, and not a contemporary person. Just like Brent Bowers sent us email, and is interred here, it's reasonable (heh) that Digitalis is buried in a grave here. Of course, #84 is a woman. Did Roberto truly have 6 fingers? Did their offspring? Is Roberto wandering the park looking for his soulmate? Did they have a child who vanished at some point? Dunno.

Just fell in...I was on the fringe of OOC (doing my best to write combative E-Mails to Brad, mostly), and I'm still playing catchup now - but until I can provide something actually useful I figured I'd throw this out

http://www.gurman.org/ashgrove/

Version 2 of the song is the one I've heard the most, and maybe could add a little perspective coloring?
