Plan of Action - Friday April 22nd

I started a new thread for this as there seemed too much spec and was got a little off topic.

What do we have to go on at the moment?

Quote:
The documents, leaked by an anonymous source within the Academy, discuss a plan for Kiteway to address some form of communication to a large audience of Earth inhabitants on Friday, April 22, at 3:00pm in "the London time district."

So, we know we have to go/do something at that time, but what are we going to do? This is most likely a key point in the 'game' and we have 1 lead.

Should we just wait for something to happen?

I think right now the best we can do is see if more information becomes available. If not, then on Friday we should all be checking the sites at 3, and logged into the argn chat also. If we hear nothing before then, then surely there will be an update for us somewhere...

My opinion is wait. Put it this way: the Sentinel's being going for a month and we haven't produced anything. Maybe the PM's are screaming at us for missing the puzzle right in front of our eyes, maybe they're not, but there's no way they're going to risk us missing out on an important face-to-face gathering because we couldn't decipher the clues.

My guess is that we'll get the news regardless. Then again, it doesn't seem much of a game to just give us it all on a plate... I've always wondered what would have happened if everybody had happened to miss Dinah's meeting in London.

a few of us who live in london or near london are planning a small meet in greenwich park around 3 on friday.

Greenwich park is the home of the Greenwich Meridian Museum, the point from which all time is measured, so it's a pretty safe bet that if "the london time district" means a place, that's it.

The documents say that kiteway will address a largeaudience.

Saying how Kiteway is in PPC, he isn't going to be in London on Friday, is he??
Also, if a bunch of us go to London, that isn't really a large audience, relatively speaking.

But, 'london time district' is in "" thingies, implying that it is a place.

I am so confused! I don't think it will be a face to face meeting, especially as it says 'some form of communication'.

Don't suppose by any chance he will put an ad in here - www.greenwichtime.com?

Probably not but worth a spec?

A lot of people have said that "London time district" implies "the physical location of London". I have been silently disagreeing, but I suddenly realized why I disagree, so now I'm speaking up Smile

at 3:00pm in "the London time district." can be read as at 3:00pm in "the (London time) district.", which would be the physical district where "London time" is in effect. This seems to be the popular interpretation (especially with people from London).

It can also be read as at 3:00pm in "the London (time district).", which would just imply "3:00pm London time", and would not give us a location at all. I personally believe this is the case, and I'm expecting an e-mail from Sente around that time.

I'm sure mentioning this is all very redundant, but it helped me see what 'the other side' was talking about.

Worker, I agree with what you're saying. The other interpretation didn't even occur to me..

hey guys, I've been following perplex ever since it started, but this is my first time posting.
I agree that "London time district" doesn't refer to a physical location. if you look at the new Futures page, at the bottem it says "And remember, the most amazing journey happens without taking a step." If the futures page is in any way connected to the game events (as seems quite likely) this definitely implies that we don't have to leave our houses to continue this part of the game.

I have two additional interpretations - and am also in the dark.

1) The London Time District could simply mean the Earth 'dimension' from the PC point of view. Coin toss on whether it's GMT or BST - I would simply check both times.

2) The PC puzzles have yielded more than 1 group of solvers - meaning that some of us are further along than others. I believe this because of an email I received (from another player) after Abbey Rd, that at the time called for me to join a team of solvers. I felt I had little to gain by segregating secretly without the skills to back it up. There was no evidence presented whatsoever that segregation had already occured, but reading the Sentinel has changed my mind over the last weeks.

I think we lesser-solvers are watching a dynamic while experiencing a lull.

It can also be taken that the logo change was a hack and therefore access has been achieved by a player(s). Maybe by in-game characters, maybe not. Is there a PC hacker, or an Earth puzzle hacker? Or do you actually think the Sentinel webmaster made a mistake?

We'll all be watching everything we know of . . .

Any idea where this other group is posting?

Well, touch wood I'll be in London on Friday, could someone PM me and I'll give you my phone number so I can check in either if something happens or if nothing happens and I'm missing out on everything (any internet cafe's nr greenwich park?)
I personally am of the opinion that it does mean a place, but I understand the other view totally, and am only going because I'm planning to make a day of it with a few friends... Also, re the most amazing journey without making a step thing - maybe there's going to be something on the net as well as something in real life - clues we need to put together somehow? I haven't noticed this being specced explicitly, although I guess most have thought about it...
Anyway, I guess I'll see a load of you on Friday (anyone that's planning on going), I'll bring a camera (I'll try for a camcorder) and I'm the 6'3" guy with the blonde spikes and the carnation =P
Here's a spec for you, Scarlett will die tomorrow. Hah, you didn't see that coming... Mwaha.

i have to agree with Worker and the others who have said they disagree about the "London time district" being a place. how many players do we have in London? not enough i'm guessing to make a "large crowd". i'm thinking of either an email, chat session or perhaps a video conference?

i'm not a good puzzle solver, but i am a good guesser. so, those are just my guesses. but i do know that we won't be left in the dark as to what this exactly means. either one of us (the more solver savvy people) or another more obvious clue will tell us exactly what we need to know.

i for one am ready for this game to really get going!

*prehaps something i can attribute to...* Wink

I'll agree (yeah, I know I'm about the 30th person) that it's not a place, but for a different reason. The london time district thing was part of an article written to Perplexians ... maybe they don't have different "time zones", or maybe they understand our time a little differently??

Being in Sydney, I'll be checking in online when I get home from Friday knock-off drinks!! Maybe the lubrication will be helpful with the puzzle? Very Happy

i talked about this sort of stuff over here, so i wont bother repeating it so much, except to bring up the idea of perplexcity being a huge place. but the city operates with districts, so they used wording which they are accustomed to as a means to explain something they dont use.
