just nudges from game control.
i googled text from the geocities site and found that most of it is copied from other webpages, but he added some stuff, like the "fields" in parentheses and references to page numbers, etc. so maybe that's a place to start.
also the quote on the first page under the carl sagan quote is from "blue velvet."
im also still bugged out about how else we coudl have got the AIAHAHHBDC key word to the last cipher other than brute force. He was giving us clues, about THE BOOK and his wallet and everything.
one idea i had that doesnt work: Mapping the ISBN number of the book he quoted to letters. Both deTocqueville AND thomas jefferson.
any ideas?

one thought about ridiculous keyword.
Maybe by crackin the cipher we missed a step.....
maybe we were supposed to find a different word and encrypt it with another keyword, leading us to AIAHAHHBDC?

geocities.com/mattatcrackerbox A few interesting things:
There really is, or more like was, a HarquaHala Observatory in Arizona - it's now considered a Ghost Town according to this site .
There is a book describing what life was like at the Observatory: Harqua Hala Letters by Pieter Burggraff, published by BLM.
As for Dr. William Field, I haven't found any references to one working at the now abandoned observatory, but I did find a William Field that was a ghost in England in 1804 . Maybe explains how he's ghostwritten so many books.
Also, for some reason, the name of the picture of the supposed William Field is "normlee.jpg". I don't know if this is significant or not - it could just be someone forgot to rename the (stock?) picture before putting it on the website - or maybe it's a bigger clue to what's going on. I tried googling Norm Lee, but I wasn't able to come up with anything of promise.
Oh, one more thing: when I tried decrypting the Vigenère cipher, i got a keyword of AIAHAHHBED - but if it's truly random, I doubt if it'll make a difference.

i figured out what was wrong with the keyword delimma:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
it was isbn numbers. the isbn for the jefferson bible (THE BOOK of my favorite writer) is 0807077243, which when mapped to letters with A=0, you get AIAHAHHCED, which is three letters off from our key. either we screwed up with our key, or the pm screwed up with the key. either way, i think that is the method for finding the keyword.
now i can get to work on the geocities page with a clear head.
ill need it i think, it seems very hard.

I think maybe the pms screwed up. The file has changed from what was posted earlier to what I was looking at today.
Original quote (AIAHAHHBDC):

From today (AIAHAHHBED):
Quote:

Still not what it would be if you used the ISBN number though - maybe the PM just has a hard time inputting random letters

I sent this to the Doctor:
Quote:
Dear, Dr. Field,
I'm wondering if you have been in contact with someone asking about
Charlotte. If you don't give out information about patients, it's ok.
I have personal reasons for asking.

it should be "ced" not "bed". ill see if it works.
i emailed the doctor too, asking about whether or not he had any more research on ghosts, particularly ghosts that are violent or hostile towards people.
i think he will respond, but probably with just a clue on how to solve the code on this geocities page, which im clueless about.
what could "field" be referring to? what about "chart on page 20"? the numbers seem to be signifigant since thats the only thing he added to the text copied from other pages.
the numbers might be a phone number. i called 501-315-1420, which is the numbers in order from the ghost page with the arkansas area code added (the game is in arkansas) and got a fax or modem.
the ufo page has the numbers 1, 3, and 20. which could be 1-203. i doubt he has a CT number though.

I have been contacted by a charlotte, actually -- but I cannot tell you
about this at all. what is your interest, might I ask? I am investigating
all of this, and your involvement is definitely a new lead!

this might be something....
the numbers on the page, when mapped to letters, spell "contact". well, they actually spell "contcat".
contact.html is the page with the email address.
could that really be all it is?

The questioner has a blog that has been including codes. He seems to
