heh took so long to click, I immeditately saw "leet" instead of #1337 ... took long enough for me to post again though, been so busy I've only checked back on UF once or twice a week for the past while...
if only there was a way to halt the post count increase at 1337

Could the long "221545484848465100503215" be a tracking # of some sort?
Maybe gate 12 (train), could be a shipping tracking # somewhere?

If we want to consider the number to be a "real" serial number or tracking number or ISBN of the future or whatnot, it would have check digits . I haven't been able to work the digits into any modulus scheme I've dreamt up as of yet, but someone else may have more luck.

MC = Mail Carrier? I hadn't seen this mentioned anywhere so I thought I'd throw it out there - Couldn't the "MC" on the postcard just refer to the "Mail Carrier"?
I had seen it mentioned previously that perhaps PCPS referred to Perplex City Postal Service. If so, the message "MC, please expedite global release. S." could just be a message to the mail man or mail service. Also, it's written in a location that would be more of a message to the carrier than an internal routing message or a command to an employee, as others have suggested. However, the fact that Sente signed the little message could mean that he/she is familiar enough with the mail carrier/service that they would know his/her initial and react accordingly. I dunno, just a thought.

I've searched and searched for trains, planes, and automobiles that had 24-digit confirmation numbers (especially after Adrian said we needed "direction"...although now I'd guess that has more to do with a redirection to a URL). Best I came up with was an article that said the MegaBus required such a number. Never have found a way to check on it though. Especially from the US. If someone else wants to look into it, let everyone know! Until Then....
[EDIT]
Scratch that "looking into it" thing. There's a sample code in the article. That leaves my search completely fruitless.

My kingdom for a scientific calculator!
Olorin has been the only one to mention cube roots , but I haven't heard of anyone trying to find the the cube root of the 24-digit number on the back of the postcard:
i.e.,
What is the cube root of 221545484848465100503215?
And I just wasted a couple hours trying to find any relevance to the cube of the number. 221545484848465100503215^3 = 1.08739845 × 10^70, if anyone cares. Maybe you can do something with it!
I even went to sites containing "decillion," "undecillion," and "duodecillion," the UK's system for numbers in the 66th power to the 72nd power range (since the game is originating in the UK, and they use a different system for large numbers than America or the scientific community. It's laid out pretty well here .)

Google has a built in calculator. You can do a search for "1+1=" and it will give you 2. To do an Nth root, type "Nth root of X". For example "3rd root of 221545484848465100503215"
How to use the Google calculator:

I also noticed an online cuberoot calculator at http://www.csgnetwork.com/cuberootcubecalc.html
The answer I got for the 24 digit number was 60509138.23656072
Just out of curiosity, I thought I would do a search to see if there is any such street as "Decimal Place" in the UK to try and find maybe a relevance for the 8 decimal places. I put decimal place as my search term (using a system called "Quick Address" that we use in work) and only one return for the whole of UK - 8, Blandfield Road, London, SW12 8BG. More than likely nothing but a bit interesting. The addressee name we have registered seems unrelated to any part of the "story". Sorry, but due to the UK Data Protection laws, I can't put a name on here.

You can also just use the Windows calculator (if that's your chosen OS of course). Start - Programs - Accessories - Calculator
You then need to click View and select scientific calculator. To work out the cube root of anything type in your number, hit the x^y button and type in 0.3333333333333333333333 (raising something to the power of 1/3 is the same as working out the cube root).

for the windows calc there's an easier way the INV check box in the top left stands for inverse check that then click the x^3 button and you'll get the cube root... might even be more accurate since .3333333 != 1/3
edit:
(by this i had ment you can't type infinate 3's in to a calculator but this was miss understood to mean .333333... != 1/3 by some people reopening old wounds... )

We went through the whole "Does .99999999999999... equal 1?" argument in this thread . In fact, it got locked because of it.
Let's pretend this comment didn't happen.

if you do both methids with a small number like 8 mine yeilds 2
the other method yeilds 1.999999999986
... since it's not all 9's there is worse then a minior rounding error
But just for the record according to higher math .9999...==1
because 1 - .9999999...==0.0000....
since you can't say what the first none zero decimal place is in .000000....
it must be zero and since only a number - it's self == zero 1 must == .99999999999
it is a hard argument to except but thats the best i can explain it without posting books and books worth of math proofs.
