Actually it'd just be finFive=0|2|17

Although as with most things we usually have our ways around it Smile

Does this promo video "staring us in the face" contain all the clues we need to solve the puzzle?

cunning, hadn't tried that! Embarassed

edit: just noticed something interesting. on friends reunited jon left us these clues
1 of 27*, 2 of 4*, 3 of 18*, 4 of 3*, 5 of 1*, 6 of 17*

now, we know that butterfly has number 17.
it just so happens that in the final puzzle the butterfly is the sixth symbol on the list, matching exactly to butterfly=17. coincidence?

I looked up that Dune quote since I haven't seen it..

Quote:
'The beginning is a very delicate time. Know then, that it is the year 10,191. The known universe is ruled by the Padashar Emperor Shaddam the Fourth, my father. In this time, the most precious substance in the universe is the spice, Melange. The spice extends life; the spice expands consciousness; the spice is vital to space travel. The Spacing Guild and its navigators, who the spice has mutated over 4,000 years, use the orange spice gas which gives them the ability to fold space. That is, travel to any part of the universe without moving. Oh yes, I forgot to tell you. The spice exists on only one planet in the entire universe; a desolate, dry planet, with vast deserts. Hidden away within the rocks of these deserts are a people known as the Freman, who have long held a prophecy that a man would come - a messiah - who would lead them to true freedom. The planet is Arrakis, also known as Dune'

So the line before the one quoted in the promo video is "The beginning is a very delicate time". We are also told to "go back to the beginning" when we get the puzzle wrong.

The rest of the Dune stuff doesn't seem to have anything to do with us, not as far as I can see anyway.

Is there something that happens at the start of the S&S experience that has relevance to the end puzzle?

hang on a sec...

'delicate time'
'turn the hourglass'
'way back machine'
'begins where it ends'

we need to know in what order the adverts appeared in those magazines. each advert has one of the symbols in it.
maybe the page they were on could be the clues?
does anyone have copies, or remember the ads?

but I remember there being a page within the stella site about the adverts and I think that had dates on?!

Not having played this game from the very, very start I'm unsure as to which magazines and adverts your referring to Meak.

However if we have to go back to the beginning then I think this whole game stemmed from an ad campaign created by Lowe London and run by Stella where people are depicted selling thier souls to the devil for a beer.

http://ad-rag.com/110836.php
http://www.olaf-veltman.com

Both url's show photos from this campaign. The butterfly collection on the wall, the hourglass and the office desk all appear on the H* website down the right hand side. Also the crossroads and the Airfield are depicted on H* as well. You can also see each of the symbols in the photos, not sure where the dog is though.

Also shows which magazines these adverts where going to be featured in:
Clash, Another Magazine, Pop, GQ, Esquire & Arena.

Not sure if these are the ads you mean.

Another failed attempt!

OK, just for completeness: Combining the "putting symbols in the order as seen on HWAU" strategy with the Friends Reunited Kloo doesn't work. For those at the back, both these methods seemed promising because they fit in with the "Butterfly = 17" flyer that was posted here.

Hi,

stopped following S+S actively long time ago, when it became apparent, that it was limited to UK, just lurking since then.

Has anyone tried to connect the symbols to the Portfolio over at Marlowes Website and derive the order from the creation-dates mentioned there, instead of the HWAU-Site's order? Just some idea, since the HWAU-order seems to lead nowhere up to now.

Some information over places and persons:
Ophis - that mean snake in latin, Jon has written something about a snake in the grass in his coche. I think the snake symbolise the snake in paradise that gave the aple to Adam and Eva

Adam and eva = People
forbidden aple = Luxury
The snake = Satan = Sable and shuck and the Man in black

Asgard is the place in northic mythology where you come when you die in battle

Valhalla is the great hall in Asgard where all the Gods eats and drinks

I hope this will give u some clues!
