A dead drop you won't have to be in-game for, as far as I know, due to the fact that you'll just be picking up a package left there some time earlier by the 'guy behind the curtain'.

Thanks for being around and volunteering. Hope you stick around for the rest of the ARG Smile

oh i'll try to stick around as long as i can... i already have gathered a few people who are trying to figure out the site

That probably wouldn't be advisable. Following someone who isn't meant to exist and all.

true....

i shall refrain from it. i'll tell the rest of my "squad" to do the same.

so far its me and Sgt. Griffen from ILB's beekeeper crew.. maybe i can also get CPO Shcwartz and MCPO Crow involved too... get the whole Rhode Island Covert Squad involved in another ARG Very Happy (in case your confused... in ILB there was an AI who'd call us on the phone and we'd pretend to be her crew from her ship. our squad didn't have a name so she named us the Rhode Island Covert Squad. we were actually used in the plot sorta.)

From a well traveled PSU student. there are ALOT of Pennslvania references.

The Pottsville Mafia, I remember reading about this. There were 7 'hackers' in the pottsville school if I recall. They re-wrote the code on the computers given to them by the school so they overrided the ability that the teachers had to see what was on there screen, and reversed it so that they could see what the teacher screen. They were caught, but all got off. Save for one who they decided to press charges on.

Mr Pytak..

I did the same. And looking at Stephen's web page, he is doing a guest speaking in PA This week, and he was born in PA as well.

And when someone did a DNS search on Fallingintime.com, the Area code came up in PA.

Heh, I've been in this since the moment I saw it... I'm game.

Being new and all, I'm getting a little excited wondering what the drop-off will be. What are these real world aspects of ARGs usually like?

other than the puzzle stuff online, the real world things are usually fun. with ILBs we did all sorts of stuff and we ended with "love combat training" in 4 designated locations in the US..

i feel honored that i'm the one thats going to pick up the package Very Happy seriously. i feel more involved than i did with ILBs. with ILBs all i did was answer a few phones.. i was never around for any riddles or anything that is story breaking.... well.. other than the fact that once while we (the Rhode Island Covert Squad) were talking to Melissa, the SP was moving files around and such.
but now i'm picking up an inportant piece of info Very Happy

Quick Summary

Dun kill me! *hides* Some people in IRC are trying to catch up, so I thought this may help a bit ^^;

Spoiler (Rollover to View):

1) http://www.FallingInTime.com is found.
1a) The whois: www.whois.sc/www.fallingintime.com, gave us the contact email: noitcurtsed[AT]Gmail.com
2) Clicking on the image brings us to: http://www.fallingintime.com/believe
2a) The image depicts the mythical character Icarus. Hence: http://www.fallingintime.com/icarus
3) The numbers 6, 58, 105, 117 and the Beale cipher, we get: http://www.fallingintime.com/y3o0
3a) The word 'lie' is underlined on the key. This gives: http://www.fallingintime.com/lie
4) The image on y3o0 shows a red kanji character. The character translates to 'hate', though loose translation yields 'malice'. http://www.fallingintime.com/malice
5) On malice, the text is arranged in the shape of a rose. http://www.fallingintime.com/rose
5x) It seems that we found rose too early. The 404 page http://www.fallingintime.com/404 has a compass in the background. Relation to the compass 'rose' is what brought us there originally.
6) Upon arrival at rose, we saw the current image, though with a few differences. The word courage was not blue and the blue lines were not there. The word 'Angels' was not in blue, and the words 'Data Input: Complete' said '[Data Input: 20].
7) Eventually the word 'Angels' became highlighted: http://www.fallingintime.com/angels
8) Angels showed the astrological symbol for Libra. So: http://www.fallingintime.com/libra
8a) Angels also had an image of what appeared to be a blackhole, this page was found: http://www.fallingintime.com/blackhole
9) Libra had a bunch of text. Some of it was colored, while parts of colored words were white. Taking all of the white letters from the colored words, red produced, 'liaem' and blue produced, 'guaroce'. Unscrambling these lead to 'Email Courage'.
10) Around this time, we began emailing CourageSPLATGmail.com, as well as emailing noitcurtsedSPLATGmail.com with the subject 'Courage'. Whichever was correct, the counter on Rose seemed to reflect the number of emails being sent.
11) Rose eventually got to the point where the countdown had completed, giving us. 'Data Input: Complete' as well as highlighting 'Courage' in neon blue further, and producing a couple neon blue lines. So now: http://www.fallingintime.com/courage
12) Courage seems to verify this ARG as being the sequel to 'Project Gateway'.
13) Updated red text on Courage lead to the song '40 feet' by Franz Ferdinand. Now: http://www.fallingintime.com/40feet
14) Currently on 40feet.

Emails: Emailing noitcurtsed[AT]Gmail.com with something along the lines of 'I believe' gave us a great mannner of varying emails. And eventually our first live drop. http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=188058#188058 The email contained the term 'Yxuhel Taeg Usb Psot' which was translated to 'Huxley Gate Bus Stop' (Or for the IRC chat 'Bus Post' :P )
The other emails seemed generally unimportant, so I'll leave them out, though they can all be found by reading back in the forums.

Unsolved/Dead-ends: The pages 'icarus', 'blackhole, 'courage', 'lie', and '40feet' haven't lead anywhere yet. There may be more to solve on them, or they may just be dead-ends.

Currently: DeadDrop was a success, cd and poster recovered. http://www.fallingintime.com/courage being the last page found.

IRC: irc://irc.chat-solutions.org/icarus

If any corrections need to be made, just PM me~ Hope this helps~

@ pharmmajor
I have no idea! I'm new as well. I assume it usually is just 'there' when the dropoff time is hit.

So I was looking at the capture.jpg image of /courage.htm and played around with it. Didn't come up with anything new, but we can say for sure its doctored. The sky has been added and theres a little manipulation to create a blackhole type thing and also I'm pretty sure the star has been added.
So, the question still is, what/where the heck is this place?
Does it look remotely familar to anyone?
There's some key features, such as the Steple and what looks like a church to the right of it. (the original is still up on /courage)
I'm going on the line that its important. There's been mention of Pennsylvania, so that might be a spot to start ... its a long shot though.

Nice recap, Xestrix.

This will help people who want to get in the game but missed joining in early on.

Now, we must wait for the next clue revelation. Will it be the 22nd, or will we have to wait until the drop off on the 24th?

We can say for certain the 24th, as we have written evidence.
I think something will be revealed on the 22nd, like a new clue or email

They can range from going to a coffee shop to pick up a CD, to answering payphones, to boat chases and murder and mayhem oh my! (Check out Art of the Heist for probably the most dramatic live events to date in an ARG.)

Welcome, and best wishes for a thrilling first ARG experience! Smile

Dammit. Right when I have to work the whole day away from my computer, obviously everything happens. Bang Head

I haven't played Project Gateway, but I'll try to catch up, just to know what we're going to deal with. This one really looks great (and, very important, solid).

Ahhh!! Thanks so much Xestrix for the re-cap as well! Obviously I'm new here (and new pretty much to the ARGs, although I did play 'Majestic' way back when Laughing ), so it was really nice to have a chronology all in one place! I look forward to working with all of you! Gambatte!

It is Pottsville. I've passed though that town dozens of times before (I used to live in Reading, my girlfriend in Hazelton. Pottsville is inbetween)

The Capture image is a 90degree rotation from the PA google image I just found. I might make a little 'field trip' this weekend to confirm.

Edit The steple is a big clue, as is the red Yuengling's building from the side. It should fit.. But the image could have been photoshopped to clear certain parts of it.
