#066 [Ivy] Lost in Mockba

Card author - Caine.

It's a photo of a tattoo on a girl's hip. The tattoo is of a wolf's head which is surrounded by the words 'ЧЕЛОВЕК ЧЕЛОВЕКУ ВОЛК' and the question is 'What does this tattoo say?'.

(Sorry - I don't have a scanner so can someone else do the honours please?)

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
The tattoo is in Russian and an online translator gave me the following:
ЧЕЛОВЕК - Abbr Per.; Pers. N Mas; Person; Human; Being; Individual; Fellow; Soul; Spirit; Subject; Personage; Head; Body; Cleanskin; Hominid; Jack; Joker; Kipper; Party; Wallah; Wight; Bird; Card; Human being; Bet; Bone; Fellow creature; Bod; Bones; Devil; Dowser; Tabernacle.
ВОЛК N. Wolf

It couldn't translate ЧЕЛОВЕКУ and when I tried to translate the whole phrase it came up with Dog eat Dog which isn't correct. So is there anyone out there who speaks Russian?

According to Babelfish:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):

ЧЕЛОВЕК = Men

ЧЕЛОВЕКУ = To man

ВОЛК = Wolf

The whole says "Men to man the wolf" apparently. Though if you translate "Wolf Man" you get "человек волка"
Oh also if it is ЧЕЛОВЕКЧ not ЧЕЛОВЕКУ then that means "Chelovekch" whatever that is.

I think we're folloing the wrong path here, I got those same results when you were searching but:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):

I can confirm that 'man is wolf to man' doesn't work

However. I'm thinking we're not paying enough attention to the card
Spoiler (Rollover to View):

I think it might be something like a wolf in sheep's clothing

but 'wolf in sheep's clothing' didn't work either

Well I'm locked now, but a search for that Russian phrase gave the following:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):

In Latin:

Homo Hominis Lupus Est

Which when looked up gave another translation:

A person is a wolf to others

or

Man is wolf to man

maybe they want the latin or some other phrasing of the proverb?

Tried
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
man is wolf to man
and
Homo Hominis Lupus Est
Both wrong and now I'm locked out too!

I'm wondering whether the choice of language is significant.

Don't have the card, has anyone tried anything to do with Sergei Prokofiev's Peter and the Wolf? (Mockba is Russia i think and the wolfs head).

Long shot i know, but worth a go.

Ok, tried
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
'man is wolf to man' in the online translator and it came back with человек - волк человеку so I think we've got the right phrase - we just haven't worded it correctly yet.

Has anyone got von's hint for this card as it may point us in a direction?

Could they be asking for a phrase that doesn't translate into something recognisable in English?

Im just thinking along the lines of the title, "Lost in Mockba." Make me think about the translation of it.

On the other side of that though, it is a book title http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0520221524/102-9426968-5978518?v=glance&n=283155

I'm wondering if it has anything to do with:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
The Soviet Union

Have tried the following which aren't correct:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):

Gulag

*wonders if that was any help at all*

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Could Be a possibility the answer could be something to do with Metallica

Reason 1 being Metallica had a track called 'of wolf and man
Reason 2 Metallica played in a festival in mockba
Reason 3 Based on vons clue - There is a website called speedy promotions with a mockba CD on it http://www.speedy-promotion.de/aufnaeher/indexra.htm

Also dont think it may be relevent but most members of rock bands like tatoos?

What do you think?

I've tried:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Of wolf and man

...and no luck.

I was thinking along the
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Metallica

lines too...

I'm locked out now.

I think Von's clue is only there to imply that:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
The text is written in "Rush in" (Russian)
