Woohoo! I got my account activated at last!

I noticed on the site that there's an audiobook version of it as well:
http://www.soundsgood.com/ProductDetail.aspx?tabindex=0&tabname=productdetail&SB=Y&PI=507507

They have an audio sample of it there.. someone really ought to get a listen to it and see if its hiding anything.

Also, Barnes and Noble has the back of the book pictured here:

I know it may be a stretch but I wonder if the ISBN or barcode is significant..

[SPEC] Valenzetti Equation

[EDIT] This is a synopsis of The Valenzetti Equation, not Bad Twin

Here's the synopsis:

Quote:
What if a mathematical equation could predict the apocalypse? Using recently-declassified material and hundreds of hours of interviews with former employees of the United Nations and prominent members of the defense and academic establishment, best-selling author Gary Troup turns his finely honed sense of mystery toward one of the most vexing mathematical riddles of our time.

Hmmm... The book is supposedly based in fact. See any similarities to the Mathematical Forecasting Initiative? Perhaps Gary crashed because he got too close to the truth...

Interesting. I'll swing into Borders on my way home from work to see if I can snag a copy.

Tagging and Subjects

I'd just like to suggest that we start using tags and descriptive subjects for our posts now. It will keep things much more organized and searchable in the long run. Please see the guidelines here for suggestions on how to do this.

Thanks!

Good idea. It'll make digging for info a lot easier, since us USA'ians will probably only have this one thread.

Can't wait for tonight! Very Happy I've just started getting into Lost, been trying to catch myself up downloading episodes offline in the last few months.

The audio recording isn't really anything special, it's a lot of stuff off the back of the book though there's some new material...

Quote:

A note from the editors:

It is with a mix of pride and sorrow that Hyperion presents Bad Twin, the last novel by a wonderful author who was taken from us in the very prime of his writing life. As many readers are already aware, Gary Troup has been missing since September 2004, when the jetliner that was carrying him from Sydney to Los Angeles crashed somewhere over the South Pacific. While nothing is more human than to hope for miracles, reason tells us that the author and his fellow travellers cannot have survived this disaster.

As his books so vividly attest, Gart Troup was a master of quiet irony. Perhaps he would have savoured the cruel but undeniable irony of his own demise en route from Sydney. In recent years, Australia had become an increasingly important part of his life. He loved the Land Down Under, and the Land Down Under seemed to love him back. A new readership was discovering him in the Antipedes. He seemed reenergized by the acceptance he found there, as evidenced by the letters that follow, correspondance that Troup shared with us when submitting his manuscript just days before departing on his fateful journey.

But it wasn't business alone that accounted for the author's increasing frequent trans-Pacific travels. Somewhere in the skies above the ocean, he seemed to have found a great romance, and this to those of us who knew him well seemed to come as a delightful surprise. Gary Troup was a confirmed bachelor, long on charm but short on commitment.

I've attached the sound file at the bottom.

I think that Bad Twin is not in-game... I stopped by the bookstore and didn't buy a copy (only available in HC atm), but the only info I could really find on the book was the www.garytroup.net and the dedication for the book was "To Cindy, my highest-flying angel" obviously a reference to the flight attendant from the show. I guess she must be his "great romance."

There were a couple letters published in the beginning of the book, but I didn't notice anything weird about them except possibly the Australian publishing arm was called "Walkabout Publishing."

Again, I think the book is not in-game but is just being released concurrently to sell copies. I have a few other books I'm reading at the moment, so don't plan on buying this book until much later (if at all), unless we find out it's in-game and vital.

I am super stoked! I've been following the UK discoveries and I can't wait for the US to start.

Anyone here took part in the Alias ARG? I wonder if there will be any nods to it since they're both JJ Abrams related.

Hey, everyone. I'm considering joining this, but I haven't watched any of the second season of Lost. Do you think this will be a problem, or will it be seperate enough that I can follow with only the first season?

Considering everyone in the UK hasn't watched the second season, you should be fine.

Even though I'm Canadian, I watch Lost the same time you guys do (We gets it from ABC) So I'll tag in here, it looks cool, but I want to make sure it's not US-exclusive before I decide to play

The problem if your Canadian is that, unless you have a satellite, cable will input its own commercials into the programs (even on ABC). So, if you watch
'Lost' on ABC, you will really be getting the CTV commercials. Therefore, if there is any clues in commercials, we may not get them. This is usually a good thing (who wants commercials about Montana anyways?), but it really could be a setback in this situation.

Ah, yes, I see...

There's a possiblity that ABC will stick the commerical in there, I've seen it done...
