EDIT: Split from trailhead post. --Phaedra

Whoever it was that guessed it was a skull -- you win!

Dude, I called it! Awesome!

Did he mention whether there were any clues or anything on or in the skull? Or anything unusual about it? Was it real or fake?

Mycroft's fine; he's just sleeping off that headache. (Sorry for calling you and waking you up, dude.)

From what he said on the phone, the skull is carved out of something, and has markings of some sort on it; he'll have more details when he wakes up.

not... dead... yet.

Sorry folks, there was something seriously nasty in the air down here today.

What I picked up was a carved skull statue that has been written upon in marker. The main body of the script is a continuous loop circling over the brows, along the crown, and over the back. There is a second group of script that goes from the center of the forehead back, with two flanking lines down the rear-top. Also of note is an interesting area that looks like it was plugged up on the bottom of the skull. I will submit pictures of all of the above shortly.

On the script, it looks like some sort of degenerate greek to me, though I could be mistaken. My roomate thinks it might be one or another angelic script, though all the forms I have found were based off of Hebrew, and not Greek. I can say that it's not the script of John Dee, which is somewhat of a relief.

Well, being that I'm into archeology I might (big if!) be able to help a bit in pointing toward the correct language (if it is one). I look forward to the photos...and glad you're feeling better! I was a little worried when you didn't post ^_^

I should also mention that I have fullsize versions of these pictures available in a 4.33 MB zipfile on request. I did slight photoshopping on some images to sharpen them.

[META] Lazy PM

Oh, and as a final note, our doctor is a very lazy/busy PM. The bag was left _right_ outside the doorway shown in the "I feel safe" video.

You mean right outside his house?! I've just done an admittedly very quick look over the IM transcripts (in between running round with towels and saucepans - its raining and my roof is leaking!), but I couldn't see anything that told us how the skull came into his possesion (or perhaps how Jochen came into the skull's possesion... ). Did I miss something?

I can see greek characters in there too, but others... there's one that looks like the infinity symbol (which doesn't help any, 'cause no one's too sure where that came from either Smile ). It may be that its a mix of alphabets, perhaps even including sigils of some kind

http://www.wisdomsdoor.com/wb/hwb-sigil.shtml

Bet it brightens up your weekend having that around your house!

Are you kidding? It's great! After the game I am so loaning to my friends who run the yearly Call of Cthullu LARP at Owlcon (local gaming convention). If I could think of any way to integrate it into my Firefly LARP, I sooo would.

Here is a sight with a ton of languages on it. I can't identify the writing so far...And I gotta go to work.

Tentative heads up...

This thread might be worth a look...

I know greek is probably a fairly common way in ARGs of making something a bit 'mysterious', but this site has a couple of flash movies with scrolling greek text... and the title of the page is "It is coming..." There's actually not much else in terms of style to connect it to this trail, but just thought I'd mention it.

The domain name was registered recently (23 Sept 06) so ... I don't know. Don't have time today to translate the greek - might have to do a screenshot or decompile the flash movie, 'cause the font is quite small and it scrolls very quickly- hard on the eyes!

EDIT:
