Per Wikipedia:

"Sic (pronounced as "seek") is a Latin word meaning "thus", "so", or "just as that". In writing, it is italicized and placed within square brackets — [sic] — to indicate that an incorrect or unusual spelling, phrase, or other preceding quoted material is a verbatim reproduction of the quoted original and is not a transcription error."

I always assumed it stood for spelling incorrect, which is sorta right despite myself. Learn something new...

Oh and The Last Starfighter was only like my favoritest movie evar when I was a kid.

Well, for the purpose of solving whatever puzzle/puzzles may lie in that letter, I created #tcotsa - It's not a registerred channel yet, so anyone can feel free to come in and register it. I don't know how. Now, here's a couple of things I've observed:

  • Sedulous Amalgamation has the abbreviation, 'SA' which may correspond to the 'S' and 'A' above those small grids on back of the letter.
  • There is a lack of correct puncuation in the letter. WTF, man?
  • Google definition of 'amalgamation:' The merging of two things together to form one such as the amalgamation of different companies to form a single company.
  • What is it that is merging?! Will the world ever know?!

Next person's turn!

Edit: Replace superfluous spoiler tag with fancy list. -SpaceBass

Funny, I always thought (sic) stood for "said in context", which is sorta correct too, since sic's are only used when quoting another source verbatum.

Learn something new indeed.

The "bra" looks like sunglasses to me.

Also, apple and snake (symbols of seduction, temptation)

Tree and sunglasses (symbols of shade?)

Let's try to make that more readable:
Quote:
what is the rearmost locution to enjoy denotation inn [sic] Bierce's lexicon? proffer
your solution to the Committee by means of postcard post haste. utilize only inks or
dyes within the spectrum from rufous to fulvous.

may your canniness glister.

  • Ambrose Bierce wrote the Devil's Dictionary
  • Rufous in this context probably means red and fulvous means yellow, so use red, orange, or yellow ink when submitting your answer
  • From original post, their mailing address is: tCotSA, PO Box 885, Bloomfield Hills, MI, 48303
  • Remember to include a valid return mailing address

Hopefully you all won't hate me for threadjacking, but how many of you have sent in your post cards? I noticed that this thread is quiet, and I was curious if it was due to lack of interest or waiting for tCotSA to receive your mail.
