OOPS! Not quite. Just noticed this letter in the original cardboard envelope:

I think the correct order is something like this:

Looks right for the cutouts. I'm still pretty sure the outer envelopes are ordered the way I posted them. And it looks like the inner envelopes are numbered... so no problem there.

So does anyone have thoughts on the "inner" envelopes. There's a puzzle there, but I'm not sure where to start (other than putting them in the correct, numbered order)

There's two sentences already.

we have "this phraseology is nugatory disregard the words with witch it promulgates" or
"this message is unimportant. ignore the words that proclaim it"

The cutouts are a time-wasting red herring, and they tell us such. lol

the messages on each "outer" envelope read:
"the comme il
faut reaction to this, the second challenge, is composed of two
words, let that duplet into
a sentence of your own unique
fabrication and proffer your oeuvre
to the committee on the
double. for your toil thus far we
convey our fulsome felicitations."

or, "the acceptable answer to this challenge is two words. write a sentence using them and submit it quickly. congratulations on your hard work so far"


So, ignore the cutouts. the puzzles on the inner envelopes (that look like hangman games) should lead to the 2 words we need.

I have some thoughts on those, i'll check into them when i leave work, if nobody beats me to it.

Could it be that your picture that jammed up the scanner is actually 7/8? All the others, 1/8 through 8/8 are there but 7...
