1) A for effort. Wink

2) I'd try it a few more times, maybe preferably with different people suggesting the same thing. Just because the characters are initially resistant to the idea doesn't mean that it's not meant to be.

Has anyone actually thought about the problems with the simplicity/ complexity of what is going on with Foo and the future. Lets think about it for a second, if the future that Fujimoto comes from is so great. Why would he have Foo change it. Somethings is not right here. And the possibility of Fujimoto coming from an alternate future. A post defiant Foo future it goes against any space time continuum theory. Fujimoto couldn't contact Foo in the past to change a future that existed before Foo went defiant. Only changing Foo post defiance would alter the future in its current state. In simple form the butterfly effect. The way Fujimoto is trying to alter would not create the utopia only change it.

*Oh God that hurt my head thinking about that.*

ok, i'm not so *up* on time theories, but maybe the future Fujimoto HAS to incite this kind of disagreement in order for the future to turn out the way it did. Maybe in the *near future* these two will team up against the corporation that is taking their information from them, that way, in the *far* future, things like this don't happen.

?? just something i'd been thinking about.

I guess what I am trying to say is that someone from the future can't change the past to make the future as it is. If the future was created by unchanged events tampering that would cause a ripple in time. Hence why you can't be from the future going back in time to creat your current future . The only viable reason to go back in time is to alter the future not creat one you are currently from. So this is why I question Fujimoto motives, If they live in a Utopia why try to change it. It really makes me wonder about why he contacted the past.

It's possible that "Future Fujomoto" isn't really from the future. "He" could be a third party (alien? rival professor?) who has been keeping up to date with the UTD program. It may be THAT is the person who actually "hacked the line." Perhaps the experiment didn't really work - this third party just wanted to make it appear to have worked.

There is another theory, that I'm told was used in Babylon 5. In a nutshell, Fujimoto is contacting the past because he's already contacted the past.

Consider Brackin's hypothetical lotto numbers situation. If, instead of the Fujimoto transmission, he'd gotten the intended lotto numbers, and then bought a ticket, he would then invariably make the transmission a week in the future telling his past self about the numbers. And of course in a week he'd want to make that transmission, so that past Brackin has the numbers.

In Foo's situation, Deus City exists because of the time communication that happened, and now Fujimoto has to ensure that said communication happens to secure the city's existence. It creates an interesting paradox in that the new communication methods Foo's been given were never discovered; assuming that they were to spread to the world from these transmissions, then the only way the future knows them is that they gave them to the past.

Yes, if indeed President Fujimoto is speaking the truth, then what Foo's doing is necesary for said future to come into fruition.

Lets put it in terms of fate. Does everyone remember Aedipus story?

Brief version: A prophesy said he was going to kill his dad and marry his mom. So he got sent away from home as a child, to try to avoid that prophesy. So when he was grown up he didn't knew who his real parents were, and when he met his dad, not knowing who he was, he killed him and then maried his mom, again not knowing who she was.

So, if the prophesy hadn't been told, Aedipus would had never left his parents' side, and maybe he would not had killed his dad and married his mom.

So the fate is for Deus City to be perfect, but in their history books, they know it became perfect because its founder got help from the future. So they contact Foo, in order to ensure the cycle of fate to close.

Ok Im still trying to patch thing up between Foo and Brackin... I sent Brackin this E-mail
Quote:
I read your blog. Why are you giving up on your work. You know as well as I do that the private investor is not going to use this for good. Next week they will win the lottery or something. Even if everything was cool and you had control of your project who are you going to contact??... Foo is just talking to himself ,hes not going to tell you anything to hurt himself. You should help Foo, hes going to be the president of Deus city. He might give you a cabnet position...Someone locked him in that server room so he would miss the experiment. Ask yourself who did that. Are the guys that bought the project responsible?? How did they find out about the project?? How did they find out it worked???. You had spys on your team. You guys were friends... Hes pissed you fired him... but I think the company that bought the project knows alot more than you both do....thanks David

I think that the Investor is the bad guy here.

I'm very suspicious also of Fujimoto motives. And I want to know why Foo trusts Fujimoto so easily. Foo said:
Quote:
Fujimoto knows the power of calling things by certain names. I realized he said something I had never told anyone before.

This is only one of a few things that make me think that Fujimoto is Foo, maybe Foo will reveal the truth.

So i sent Foo this:

Quote:
What that fujimoto said had you never told anyone before? And how would he know? I know we must seek the truth, but are you certain we can trust Fujimoto?

I think the creators decided to launch early. It WAS for 2007, but I guess they had enough interest to start now.

I do hope we won't have to 'pay 20$ to get the next puzzle' though.

Foo just posted another transmission today, explaining life in Deus City.

My fear of it being an Orwellian 1984-style world is ever growing. A lot of what's said in that video worries me.

Heh, yup -- I'm suspicious of any "utopia." They're usually anything but.
