Considering what we've seen of the movie is choppy shaky shadowy camerawork, maybe they figured why waste money on realistic blood when no one will see it that much anyway? : )

 		I'm pretty sure that the "stagehand" is actually Rob in a hazmat suit. The lighting on his face suggest a plexiglas shield. One of you should be able to enlarge the image and match up his facial features.

I take a few days off and they release a trailer... damn...

But here are a few things I was thinking about re: putting theories to rest. Take this quote from the Lizzy Caplan interview.

This will put to rest the "Lion" theory, the "hair demon" theory AND the pervasive "it's the same girl in the pic" theory all at once. Now that's efficient!

The trailer also depicts NYC in what appears to be late summer. There are shots of the city and park with no snow and leaves on the trees. That removes the "61 degrees in January" issue as well. The date of the movie (1-18-0Cool is not the time that the movie took place.

But I want to add a few new theories...

1) I think the military/government designation at the beginning of the new trailer is part of a "frame" for the movie. I think that the movie might be setup as an analysis (by the military perhaps) of what happened "that fateful day" from evidence collected from the site. This would also allow for any, and perhaps all, of the main characters to die and live on only in digital memory.

2) I am starting to wonder about the line "I've seen it… its alive!". If I saw a giant Godzilla/Whale/Lizard I wouldn't tell anyone it was alive, that would be obvious. To state that something is alive is something you would say about a thing that people would not normally think was alive (i.e. a zombie, not a corpse – a golem, not a statue – a transformer, not a car). Add this to the guys in Hazmat suits and the expanding woman thingy and I am starting to think we have a Blob type monster. Something that can infect prey with venom or de-coagulants or something.

Thoughts anyone?

Not so sure on that. I would assume most gelatinous "creatures" would probably not have the ability to create "vocal" noise, i.e. the roar.

Unless I totally missed what you were trying to convey.

 		the blood doesnt look tooooooooo bad... i mean ok most of it reminds me of ketchup but ah well..with different lighting it ll b alrite (besides the shaky cam will also distort it a lot)

so we can also be sure the guys in those suits are not "evil" or "sent by the monster" ..they are simply soldiers or medics sent by the army or goverment to help the people or eliminate the crisis. whether or not they are goin to kill the "survivors" or "infected"...thats another question...

After playing that scene over and over, I think that's the creepiest part of this new trailer. What gets me is how the cameraman focuses on that scene - it must be important - and how it cuts out right when you think she'll pop with a disturbing little rumble added in. I can't wait for an HD version, because if there's one thing JJA knows how to do, is to let our imaginations run wild with his imagery.

The existence of Hazmat suits does seem to suggest some sort of infectious component to this madness, besides the threat of being squashed/eaten/maimed, etc. Why not add exploding to the menagerie of "ways to die in a JJA flick"?

In case you missed it, here's an animation of the scene, depicting the "Exploding Woman" (click the animation to see a larger version):



Couple that with the "bleeding from every orifice" pic of Marlena, and a gruesome end comes to mind. Notice that the Exploding Woman's hair (above) matches Marlena's (below). Are we witnessing her death?



Hey, this is all guesswork, and maybe a clean HD trailer will clear this up a bit. This seems to be the scene that people are calling a decapitation, but it does look to be men in Hazmat suits restraining a women who suddenly expands to the point of exploding. Even if it's just a strange lighting effect, it still looks creepy.

Oh, and to those who were wondering if that's a Hazmat suit or a blue screen suit, here's a picture of a red version I found here:



There's even better shots of blue Hazmat suits here.

Finally, this took a while to write up, so there were a ton of new posts since I started. Sorry for any duplicate info! Perhaps we should start a Trailer #2 Analysis thread, so should we wait for the HD version?

That, and look at the original trailer... News showed time and weather...

no snow in 63°...
(which is odd, because the average low in NY in January is in the 20's-30's, and at midnight , you're definitely looking at that range)
