Yeah Byahhh I know. They changed the characters (actors) to to be more American out of their costumes is what I meant by "Americanized" (also dubbed it) I did watch the Power Rangers once upon a time and I'm far from being an expert on Sentai so I'm not gonna hate on it. I bought their toys. Dunno

On a side note I met one of the guys in the costume who did the stunts for one of the original series during a karate class once too ^_^ .

OO lol sorry well I bought the toys too so don't feel bad.

Does nobody else notice the title of this thread is "Cloverfield Marketing Style Guide" and that this illustration bears absolutely no resemblance to any of the marketing we've seen officiall thus far?
If this is a 'style guide', the folks behind Cloverfield marketing have no idea what style is and how to follow a guide.

As someone mentioned earlier, this reminds me of an album cover I've seen.
That "Save Yourself" thing has no basis in the movie that we've seen so far, and strikes me as the thing to use to find where this image really originates.

Forget about it. If he doesn't reply by tomorrow, i'm dismissing this post as bullshit.

In one of the TV spots, Rob says that they need to go back into the city to "save her". This may be what "Save Yourself" is alluding to.

The thing that bothers me the most is that this pic/poster/ad seems to contradict itself.

You know the marketing guys and JJ don't want to give away the monster before the movie is released.
Yet...the release date is listed here, like there would be in an advertisement.

Doesn't make sense.

(For something I thought was a stretch....Hebrew maybe?)

Can't say with custom fonts. Still say "Rawwr" though...-_-...

It's '1-18-08' in cipher.

The CLOVERFIELD text, although nice, is NOT the font used on the official poster. It's a good imitation, but there are notable differences.

That is all the proof we need to confirm this as fanart.

I see what Euchre is saying, but...

I have a feeling this particular image (if real) would be intended for one of those full front page Myspace theme things. Not all advertising has to follow the same theme, generally ads are adapted and stylized for their medium. This falls right into the Myspace style. And it's designated as DesignClvrf-monster1, implying there are more than one designs included in this guide.

And the marketing we've seen thus far has been more along the line of ARG (for example, Tagruato, Slusho, TIDOwave, none of those would be following this guide) and less along the lines of mainstream marketing like this guide appears to be pointed towards.

That's not to say I think this is real...I'm just saying, it is certainly possible.

The funny thing is, athough it's not Godzilla, it sure looks like something Big-G would've fought in those cheesy 90's Toho films.

EDIT: Now that I'm looking more closely at it, it looks more like something Zilla would fight on the cartoon offshoots of G98.

To see what I mean as far as the text, look at the OP, then check the poster in this link:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v246/Godkin/Cloverfieldposter.jpg?t=1196647484

The OP text has straighter edges (look at the top right edge of the F, the real poster it angles inwards, on the OP it's straight). Also, the official text effects are more complicated than the ones in the OP.

Pretty damning, I'd say.
