[INFO] more, different picture strangeness

it was pointed out in the chat that when examining the picture of Dana on her blog contains text that it was created using Photoshop 3.0.

release dates for PS3:
Photoshop 3.0, Mac OS: September 1994 Mac - November 1994 Win
Photoshop 3.0.5, Mac OS: May 1996

strange that the picture would be edited on a computer running windows 3.1....

also, whether or not this is relevant i can't say but Marathon was also released in 94

I actually noticed that as well, but didn't think much of it... now that you mention it, it is odd, and an unlikely scenario, so I assume the version number was changed afterwards, maybe as an insider gag for the over-attentive...

The screenshots from ilovebees.com also is edited with photoshop 3.0, other weirdness with the blog pictures is that there's md5 hashes embedded, some other sort of id ("gid"), plus references to picasa v2.0; as far as i can see from the picasa homepage they're currently at v1.6 (Could this info actually be embedded in the images by blogger? both blogger and picasa are google services)

If you give me the md5s I can run a password crack on it, I'm using a crack for Linux that can run really fast.

Re: more, different picture strangeness

Trout Those things are added by the blogger software. I verified this myself, by uploading a jpg image from my hard drive through the picaso software (called Hello) for blogger. When I retreived my image from the server, it had added the fields as Dana's photo. The same version numbers, mention of a gid and md5 were all added to my photo.

Check it out at http://mescad.blogspot.com/ to see for yourself if you wish.

Interesting. I've looked at other jpeg's hosted on photos1.blogger.com and they don't have these funky headers... normal JFIF stuff mostly. That said google only acquired Picaso recently so maybe only recently upload pics get manipulated in this way.
It could be that this is a red herring, but who knows... does anyone know anything more about Picaso/Photoshop file headers? Here's the info from Danatwinging.1.jpg

'Mappa' is 'map' in Italian. I don't know if it has meaning other than that.
