The Inspiration for Giger's Alien Phronima parasite. The Phronima Amphipod is a parasite that lives at the bottom of the ocean.
Rumoured to be the inspiration for the Xenomorphs in Alien, could a giant one of these be our monster? We'd only be seeing the rear trailing legs of the monster in the clip if so.

This is really interesting, and I can definitely see its shape being taken into account for the monster, especially with the back shape and the claws.

This is a REALLY cool idea, but remember who the art director is... That guy really doesn't need inspiration to create something wicked.

Well I said 'rumoured' I've only just read about it, so I'm not sure.
I do know that Giger had wanted it to have a transparent body though, but it wasn't possible with the effects they were using.

Sure, but look at Starship Troopers, he's good with giant bugs too!

Could explain the little legs that don't seem to reach the ground?

these things are rad, they are parasitic from what i remember, they eat there hosts from the inside out, then use the shell of the animal as a gelatinous shell. i remember them being on the Aliens of the deep documentary. I thought i posted the video on here. but for some reason i cant find it, probably due to copy-write reasons it was deleted.

the pictures u posted look cool...has a slight similarity from the monster in the trailer when it walks by, and i could see how Tippet Studios would get inspired by a parasites like that, design wise. but its still a toss up for me of what it could be, i still think it could be a alien life form of some sort also
