[HAVEN] Cloverfield was kind of, or totally dissapointing! please, keep your flames some where else It's okay to say it! For some of us, the movie was mediocre.
For some, horrible. Come on in and share with us how you would have done it better, or what rubbed you the wrong way, or what you just simply couldn't stand.
I'd go into it myself, but I've already had the long conversation too many times with my friends of how many and what ways this movie went wrong wrong wrong taking a really great premise and dashing it to bits.

Considering you are still on a forum based solely on the movie, still questioning it, and still want to talk about it, apparently it hit you in some sort of way.
My deduction is that the movie did its job.

lol ... pretty narrow minded deduction ya have there - but then again, weez onda interznet
(everybody can make there own deducts on that) .
It's not over anyway - I doubt they woulda invested the time & resources
into establishing Tagruato and Slusho! if this movie was intended to
stand alone. An AR is being erected before our very eyes - by no means
less integral to Clover's escapades than Hanso & Dharma are to Lost's.
It's kinda hard for some to see the big picture - whether it's because
they're not familiar with Jabramz Mystery box techniques, etc. or
they're just plain shallow remains a matter of debate ...
I'd compare the fulfillment factor to that which the lucky Losties
experienced as they watched the first season of Lost directly after they
participated in TLE. They were no doubt more fulfilled than their non TLE
playing counterparts, who simply watch the show without being steeped
in mystery first ...
I'll be the first to admit that a certain esteem for Bad Robot and it's
minions assist me in putting this film on a pedestal. If I had never heard
of "JJ" and didn't follow the CARE (Cloverfield Alternate Reality Experience) ,
it's debatable whether I woulda made it a point to attend the matinee -
much less the premiere the night before. The success of this movie relied
heavily on cross over loyalty on the part of Alias/Lost (etc.) fans - as much it
relied on the "becoming rather conventional - yet not quite standard"
marketing techniques that were implemented and eagerly devoured .
Honestly, I think I can get the same fulfillment from watching the two
best episodes of Lost back to back ... it gets me fully intrigued, yet,
leaves me wanting more ... and that, indeed, is a fully operational
Mystery Box...
Rest assured - this is the first installment of Clover's journey on earth ...
unless Bad Robot, for some unbeknown reason, swears off creativity and
the pursuit of the almighty dollar ...

I seriously understand that some people did not like the movie for numerous reasons, but I must say particularly to iConsumer did you enjoy ANY part of this experience. Haven't you quit the forum and left at least once because you hate the way it's going, the people involved, the story or something else that so happened to irk you. I am not trying to flame, I just feel that if you dislike it you should move on to something perhaps you would enjoy.

I have a hard time thinking that anyone with a solid imagination would not really like this movie. Or, people who like to have everything spelled out for them and wrapped up in a neat little box. Regardless, i am definitely not on this forum to read lame complaints.

From the people I've talked to and what I've read, it seems that people either loved it or hated it, with virtually no in between. I was talking to a guy in my Spanish lab this morning and he said he thought it was just alright, that he wished they had focused on the monster more and that he would've liked to have seen some of it through a normal camera shot.

You kno i figured that theonly grey areas would be complaining about the monster shots...but i went into the movie thinking i wasnt gonna see it at all and i loved it because it showed up so many more times than i expected
and come on dude its from a civilian perspective you really think hes gonna stand there and get shots of the monster? ala godzilla '98 and just "get missed" by the monster?

I don't know where this whole love/hate thing is comming from. Maybe it is something specific to people that have followed the experience. I attended the movie with a mixed bag of people. Some of us had followed the experience and others hadn't even heard of the movie. Those of us that followed the experience loved the movie. Those that didn't follow the experience thought it was a good movie.
I think it is completely possible to think a movie is just ok. There is a gray area.

I personaly loved the movie, it was a different take on the monster film, in which it was'nt so much about the monster, but 5 new yorkers trying to survive all hell breaking loose, a freind who had'nt been following it thought it was well done, and watched it a second time for a better look at the monster.

I loved it. It was much better than Cats . I'm going to watch it again and again...
(Is anyone here old enough to get that?)
