Posting guidelines and help getting started

Welcome to unFiction!

As there may be many new people here from the Jericho fan base who are unfamiliar with ARG and unFiction, here are some helpful links and suggestions to get you started.

ARG:
ARG Quick Start Guide: a great explanation of ARG by Brooke Thompson aka imbri.
Tutorial for playing Alternate Reality Games: though this is a rather old page, it gives some basics of game play and has the cornerstone of the genre...The Ten Commandments of ARGs.
Undefining ARG: an article by SpaceBass (not a fish Wink), the founder and owner of unFiction and the Despoiler wiki; defining and describing the continuum of Chaotic Fiction.

unFiction:
Register: It's free and easy, and allows you to edit your posts and use the private messaging option on the board.
Terms of Service: Basically, this board is OOG (out of game) and play nice.
Posting Guidelines: helpful information to keep the board organized.
Glossary : including Trout: a polite way of saying that something has already been discussed.
Search before posting... to avoid trouts. Smile

Questions?
If I can be of any help, you can pm me on this board or find me at irc://irc.chat-solutions.org/tomtooman

Rangers, seasoned and green.... this experience was made for you!
Have fun!

I hope drizjr doesn't mind my adding to this- as we're dealing with more websites with longer urls, now might be the time to point out the URL tag, and TinyURL.com. With larger links that might stretch the screen, you have two options to avoid doing so-

Option 1- use a URL tag. They work like this-
Code:
[url=www.longlinkhere.com]Abbreviated Text[/url]

Where obviously the URL is changed to fit whatever page you're pointing to, and the "Abbreviated text" is what the link will read as.

Option 2- use TinyURL.com. If you go to TinyURL's site, there is a textbox for a link. Type in the extremely long link, hit enter, and you're given a new URL, shortened to something similar to http://tinyurl.com/yptuac .

Over all, these two tools can help keep the forum looking great, and still have that "New Forum" smell. Back to you, driz.
