[SPEC] Is the Flea really the author of the Widow's Journey? The first line of the story reads "Everything died, and I died with it, but after a timeless time I began to dream, and this is what I dreamed."
Note the use of "I" - only in this first sentence. The rest of the story refers to all the characters in the third person, including the Flea. Why would the flea (or any other 'character') refer to themselves in the third person? The only character not mentioned in the story is the Assassin.
Not saying the Assassin is necessarily the author, but the Flea's English isn't too good anyway - so maybe something else is responsible for the story?

The Assassin is Dana. The Operator (by the name of The Queen in that particular fable) is convinced that she is the enemy.
There's also mention in the second chapter that while The Operator was 'out of commision', she dreamed, and the dream was based on what the SPDR routine was doing.
It seems that while androids may dream of electric sheep, AI constructs dream of spiders.

I take it you support the theory that the pious flea is responsible for the ladybee777 email responses. I agree. I also agree that the widow's story is far too coherent to have come from the pious flea. To my mind, the only introduced entity that is capable of producting that story is the Queen. That doesn't mean that the queen is necessarily the author. It could have been written by someone we're not familiar with yet. However, I think the flea (or whoever the ladybee777 entitiy is) and the widow can be ruled out.
The fact that the story refers to the all the characters in the third person does not, i think, rule out any of the characters from being the speaker (although, it is a very interesting point that I hadn't thought about before). After all, It is a symolic dream, and the dreamer might not be aware of it's full meaning. He or she might not associate himselft/herself with one of the characters even though the connection would seem obvious to us. It's also possible that the dreamer does see a connection the one of the characters but is retelling the dream as it was received, without any comentary or analysis.

Do we have a translation for the Widow's Story? Like what is going on in reality and not in metaphor? If not I want to do one....

Ok I guess between the "story so far" and that it would pretty much be what I would say anyway....
God I haven't read the books in a long time. But I recall the covenant planting a bug on one of the ships and that is how they find earth. This couldn't be the flea and this can't be the ship can it?

YEAH! I just remembered the ship limped off from Reach through slipspace....
The ship this AI is on was also at the Reach battle...
could it be that obvious?

Wow, that's a rather....convincing spec. I don't know much about it thought but I think I'm gonna look into it.

I don't know I feel like I might be crossing two events in the storyline...
It would be in The Fall of Reach. Which I currently don't have.
It just seems to easy, too obvious for every other Halo fan that has read the books to overlook. But it should definitely be checked.

I'll help this one since I just finished re-reading that book 2 days ago. The ship that the bug was on was the Iriquios whose CO was Capt. Keyes. The ship "limping" away from Reach at the end of the book was the Pillar of Autumn which was Capt. Keyes' new ship for the Spartan's mission. Oh and there was no AI on the Iriquios since they were in short supply. And after the Iriquios got to Reach there was no mention of it again. Hope this clears some things up for you.

I think that, just maybe, more people should listen to you.
