Wish my brain weren't so fried right now. Couldn't they find a hitman that would work weekends? End of the work week it hard to get the ol' neurons to fire much more. Wink Hopefully they can hang on until I've had a bit of food and a beer tonight...

BTW, I had noticed both Dan and Sleep lurking around the forums today, so I was wondering if this was a bit time critical.

ETA my thoughts from the IG forum. The numbers are 1-10, all inclusive with only 10 being repeated. From the Fan's statement, I would guess these are important as numbers and not letters, maybe? Dunno

I got real excited when I looked at the first letters -

ASTEPFALSMW

It seemed to say something but then stopped.

Numbers... come in threes... hm.

ETA: It has all the numbers 1-10 in it, with 10 appearing twice.

ETA2: You said that already. Trout on me.

New blog post from Dan:

Numbers…

I've spent the night pondering about this. Mr Toasty has come through with one suggestion, but what does it mean? Are the numbers a combination to something we have missed, or are they for something about to happen? They are not GPS coordinates, neither are they connected with anything I've encountered while working on this case.

I feel they are of some importance, especially as someone has taken the time, money and risk to publicise them in a UK newspaper.

As with The Fan, I feel we may have missed this one, having been given time to prepare for whatever it is… Could this be another assassination call?

To whoever took out the announcement - I am a person, not a number. No more assassinations!

ETA - did anyone notice the site going down yesterday? I know I didn't, but the Fan obviously mentioned it in the tweet and Sleep made a new topic about it on the forum:
Quote:
This website and forum goes down on the day the last advert appears?

Coincidence or sabotage? I know which one my money's on.

Wiki

Since I haven't made any headway on the numbers, I figured I'd go ahead and open this up - I started a wiki for this (finally), but there is effectively nothing there now, so anybody is welcome to join up and help fill it.

http://followthedream.wikidot.com/

Also, I did notice that we have 13 digits in the number set, and there are also 13 in the number from the VA journal I posted earlier. I'd have a hard time with the connection at this point though.

They keep emphasizing "in threes." What it means, I haven't a clue, but just spent the last 16 hours traveling back to Texas so it's safe to say I'm kaput. Hate the fact that we missed solving the puzzle in time though.

13 numbers, 10 repeated twice. 13x2=26 letters in the alphabet? I guess I should be posting this on the IG forum so that a character might nudge in the right direction, but I'm on the brink of collapse. Madness!

Sleep of Reason posted a reply:

I really haven't got much at this stage, well - things have been weird since James Forsythe passed away. Surer has been in a state of mourning, and Hayder has been acting in a more erratic way than normal.

Well, he's usually a bit frantic, but this time it he seems 'hot under the collar', constantly asking the departmental secretary whether there's been an update or whether he's missed any urgent calls. Friday, he was the first in, with a copy of the Times on his desk, he spent the a lot of time on the office phone, unusual for Hayder - he prefers VOIP.

When I left, he was still there, just staring at his computer screen, as if waiting for something to happen, pacing around the room, clinging on to his cell phone, like his life depended on it.

I spent yesterday evening out with one of the guys in our department, who claims to have received a call from Hayder - the guy was at work on a Saturday! He wanted to know where we kept last weeks newspapers.

Can't divulge much but seems like Hayder reports to someone in Zurich, like a line-manager he takes orders from, but I haven't seen any evidence of whatever he's working on, or how it relates to Surer.

So, Hayder was waiting on the phone and watching his computer. Likes VOIP, so maybe Skype-related? Last weeks newspapers - this weeks continues off the last somehow? I did think of that, but wasn't able to come up with anything so far. This has to be easier than we're making it, doesn't it? Cursing

The most interesting thing I found however was this - check out the last pages of her journal. A kloo?

The "011" in there makes me think there's a phone number to be found, but I don't want to prank call all over Europe to check it out. Wink

It made me think the same, although admittedly I know little of international calling and such.

I've also tried ebay item numbers, letter instead of word counts, and a couple others I can't remember. So, are these 11 numbers, one 13-digit number, or something else? Could the 10's be interpreted as zeros?

From what SoR said here, I thought Peter worked in the Zurich office. Now it sounds like he's in the London office.

Also since Peter asked about the past weeks copies of the newpapers, I signed up for a free 3 day trial of The Times Online. I found a couple odd adverts, but don't know if or how they would tie into this. One is fromt he 21st, but the other one was from yesterday the 26th.

It took me a bit to get caught up after ARGfest (so excuse me if I'm way off Laughing ), but weren't there three ads in the Times? Could they just be hinting that we need to use all three for the final message?

Even more friendly nudges. New blog post by the fan about watching Surer, and a new post by Dan:
Quote:
Going Hayder…

I had a call from a colleague at Surer this morning, asking whether I had leaked information on Hayder to someone in America - I said "no".

Seems Hayder spent the weekend in the office. They found him in the same clothes he had last week, looking "haggard, worried and had a wild air about him."

Apparently he flew into a rage while grilling someone about the last Times announcement - allegedly saying "It's all lost! I'm doomed, the message was lost!" Raging that "if anything happens to me, do you think you'll be safe?" She started crying, he told her to "get out!"

From what I gather, he's worried about several things:

* The Times announcement not getting through - which leads me to believe he's waiting for some response.
* Something horrible could be about to happen to him.
* Someone in America has uncovered something that may compromise his position at Surer.

I know that Snow White is in America, is this your handiwork?

And from Sleep of Reason:
Quote:
Early lunch...

Hayder is losing it!

ETA SoR added:
Quote:
I sneaked into his office while he was in a meeting. The guy has been staring at the same blank / black screen, all weekend, waiting for a particular call. From what I gather he's refused to take anything other than on his cell.

He reduced someone to tears this morning.

Could it be that the 10s are really 0s, making the number:

10 7 5 1 6 9 10 4 2 8 3

0-751-690-4283
Question

Or perhaps the zeros are spaces, making it 1 751691 4283. Confused

ETA* Googled about mobile phone numbers in the UK, it seems land lines in London start with 020, but mobile numbers accross the UK start with 07...

Quote:
Cellphones across the UK are of the form:
07xxx xxx xxx.
Again, if you are dialing from abroad, you drop the first 0.

...are we looking at a cell phone number?

**ETA According to 10 10 987, "0751" is not used as a mobile number for the UK, but Sweden uses "7511" as a mobile code.
