[Spec] Echo & the Bunnymen
crazy speculation: Echo the tambour

This crazy idea started with a peculiar Craig's Listing that was posted in the Seattle>olympia>rants & raves section on 9-30. It caught my eye because it was a funny play on words, but mostly because "Ether" had been used as one of the locations of an earlier in game CL post. I've attached a screen capture.

Since Seattle seems to be connected to Echo, I googled echo and bunny and found there's a band called Echo & the Bunnymen.
The strange coincidence is that their drummer, Pete de Freitas, died in a motorcycle accident. But that happened on his way to London from Liverpool; not in Washington.

Ok. Then I got to thinking about thedoor page. We see echo's hand there, so we know he's there. "Riders on the Storm" plays... Echo died on a rainy day. And there's an accentuated drum (I think it's a hi hat) beat and the title "speak in rhythm".

I sent echo an email with "speak in rhythm" as the subject, and asked, "echo, are you a drummer?"
He answered back in one word:
Quote:
was

So echo was a drummer. Maybe he's not specifically meant to be Pete de Freitas. I've sent a follow-up email tonight asking if he was the drummer for the Bunneymen, among other questions.

Especially freaky considering I was listening to them an hour ago as I drove home from work ("Nothing Ever Lasts Forever" if anyone is interested).

"Lips Like Sugar"...classic Toasty...classic...

I wonder if everyone we have to save was once amongst the living in TRW. If that is the case, this thing just got even more heebie-jeebieish (to steal from Amandel).

Echo and the Bunnymen Connection

Hi all. I am very new to this whole thing. I have been lurking for the last couple of hours and reading through the threads to play catch up.

I have not seen this elsewhere so I thought I would point it out. I am not sure if its relevant or not but, Echo and the Bunnymen did a cover of The Doors song "People Are Strange" for the movie The Lost Boys. I know that we have been looking at the song "Riders on the Storm" but the Doors/Bunnymen connection is there.

Hope that helps.

*BTW everyone calls me Batt.

M13A77--You're so right and their cover is wicked good as is most of that soundtrack. Cool

Echo replied to my follow up email. I posted the full email on the "Spirit Communication" thread, but I'm pulling out the part that answered the question, "There is a band called Echo & The Bunnymen, whose drummer also left this realm in a motorcycle accident. Were you a part of that band?".

Echo replied:
Quote:
not member

my name was hidden

So who could echo have been, or what injustice does he represent?

"My name was hidden"... does that mean that he was uncredited for his work?

Between your email and mine, it seems like he was in a couple of bands that weren't very successful. The relevant part of my email to him on the subject:

Echo wrote:
few bands

no missing

regret for waste

none hear

It seems like he's sad that nobody ended up knowing about him or any of the bands he was in. Maybe that's part of what's driving him to contact us and help people. I mean, we certainly know he exists now.

It was filmed in my town of Santa Cruz, CA!!!

The recently released sequel was filmed in Vancouver
which is right out of Washington...
