SOLVE: Guides Second Step from CD:
Quote:
The email is simple substitution but the catch is that the 2 blocks of numbers are
encoded differently (i.e. a "3" in the first block stands for one letter, in the
second block it stands for a different letter). So treat as 2 separate codes to
solve.
Solving gives:
"the beginning of wisdom is to unlearn that which is nought"
and
"let us not make random judgements on the greatest of things"
I have a feeling there's more than simply decrypting the numbers and getting the
messages but haven't thought about it anymore yet.

Well, from a layman philosophical point of view, I'm thinking that the first is a reference to the use/existence/whatever of Zero.
And, correspondingly, the second is a reference to Infinity.
(I know that didn't clear anything up. You're welcome.)

Also possible references to Alpha/Omega. I also wonder about the fact that the cypher contained zero (that which is nought?) and 27 (the greatest of all..a higher # than z?)
Also, let's retain the formatting, since it has proven to be important in the past:
the beginning of wisdom
is to unlearn that which
is nought
let us not make random
judgements on the
greatest of things

Antisthenes being asked of one what learning was most necessary for man's life? answered; 'To unlearn that which is nought.'
first quote is a reference to antisthenes, so we find that http://www.mythosphere.org/antisthenes.html
gives us a new page.

the other half is a paraphrase of Heraclitus, who said "let us not make random conjectures on the greatest of matters"

sigh So is the point that empty space at the end?
I was thinking it's a word search puz, but the number or duplicates/pairs is offputting.
Maybe if I sleep on it, like Kekule, the answer will come to me.

In the source code of the pages :
Antisthenes :
<!--16 0 18 8 10 0 18 2 20 16 24 24 -->
Heraclitus :
<!--17 0 23 1 8 9 0 17 17 8 27 19 -->
